Fluminense and Chelsea clash in a huge semi-final at the MetLife Stadium. Chelsea will enter as favourites; however, they previously lost to Brazilian opponents Flamengo earlier in the tournament. Fluminense are still unbeaten and have been the shock of the tournament, defying expectations to become the only non-European team in the final four.
Key Betting Tip: Chelsea to win at 1.6 odds represents excellent value based on the tip provided by our team of in-house tipsters.
Fluminense Predicted XI: Fabio; Ignacio, Silva, Fuentes; Xavier, Hercules, Bernal, Nonato, Rene; Arias, Cano
Chelsea Predicted XI: Sanchez; Gusto, Tosin, Chalobah, Cucurella; Fernandez, Caicedo; Neto, Palmer, Nkunku; Pedro
Both clubs face suspensions due to accumulated yellow cards. Juan Pablo Freytes and Martinelli are both ruled out for Fluminense. Liam Delap and Levi Colwill will be suspended from Chelsea.
New signing Joao Pedro is the favourite to replace Delap in attack, and Moises Caicedo should also be back in the lineup after serving his one-match ban. Thiago Silva will start against his former club, but whether Fluminense play a back three or back four is yet to be determined, both could be a possibility.
Fluminense qualified as Group F runners-up with five points, finishing behind Borussia Dortmund. They achieved draws with Dortmund and Mamelodi Sundowns, whilst beating Ulsan HD. They would then go on to beat Inter Milan in the Round of 16, before defeating Al Hilal in the Quarter Finals.
Chelsea were also runners-up in Group D, finishing behind Flamengo. The Blues defeated LAFC and Esperance Tunis comfortably, but lost to the Brazilian side 3-1. This handed them a Round of 16 tie against Benfica, and a Quarter Final tie against Palmeiras. They beat both, but notably conceded in both as well.
This will be the first time this pair have met, due to them coming from different continents. However, Chelsea have already played Brazilian teams twice in the Club World Cup, winning one and losing one. Fluminense have faced teams from Europe twice at the tournament, winning one and drawing one.

Football Park’s Best Bet: Chelsea to Win @ 1.6 - Our team of in-house betting tipsters have predicted a Chelsea win in this fixture. Their strong squad depth and quality on paper put them as strong favourites. However, don’t be surprised if this match has to go beyond 90 minutes, with Fluminense not giving up easily as a Final spot is to play for.
Fluminense midfielder, Hercules, has scored in two games in a row. With momentum behind him he could cause another upset here, whilst also showing his defensive work rate in midfield.
Pedro Neto has been one of the first names on the team sheet for Chelsea at the Club World Cup. He has three goals at the tournament, making him Chelsea’s topscorer. His pace, dribbling and link up play make him an extreme threat against Fluminese’s defence.
