In the early hours of Friday morning, PSG will take on Brazilian side Botafogo in the revamped Club World Cup group stages. The match will be played at the Rose Bowl in California, offering a second win for either team in Group B.
PSG have just come off the back of winning their first ever Champions League and are now taking that same form into the Club World Cup. The french side won their opening match in the tournament against Atletico Madrid, after a 4-0 scoreline in California demolished the Spanish giants. Goals from Fabián Ruiz, Vitinha, Mayulu and Kang-In Lee helped secure the three points in Group B, sticking the Parisians top of the group on goal difference. With the trickiest match on paper already out of the way, PSG should be able to comfortably cruise through to the knockout stages, especially when considering their recent form. Luis Enrique’s men have won all of their last six matches in all competitions and that streak does not look like ending anytime soon.
Botafogo have had the dream start to their Club World Cup campaign. The Brazilian outfit collected all three points in their opening fixture, as they snuck past Seattle Sounders on the Americans’ home turf. The game finished 2-1 at full time, as goals from Cunha and Jesus were enough to counter Seattle’s late consolation. The club are not particularly performing up to scratch in their domestic campaign, as they sit in eighth place just six months after they won the league title. However, Renato Paiva’s men have won four games on the spin in all competitions, as their form looks to be picking up.
PSG Predicted Line-Up: Donnarumma, Mendes, Pacho, Marquinhos, Hakimi, Neves, Vitinha, Ruiz, Kvaratskhelia, Doué, Ramos
Despite not scoring, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was absolutely phenomenal in PSG’s first Club World Cup match last Sunday. The Georgian managed to bag two assists in the game, for both of the opening two goals. Since signing for the Parisians back in January, he has also not put a foot wrong, scoring seven and assisting seven in all competitions.
Botafogo Predicted Line-Up: Victor, Telles, Barboz, Cunha, Vitinho, Savarino, Gregore, Freitas, Guimaraes, Jesus, Matriani
John Victor just keeps performing for Botafogo. Although there was no clean sheet against Seattle, the 29-year-old has already kept six clean sheets in 11 Brazilian Serie A games so far this season. He also managed to make three saves in the Seattle game, helping his team onto win.
There is no record of these two sides ever playing each other before, due to it being PSG’s first ever time in the Club World Cup.
Both teams have had a strong opening to their Club World Cup journeys, therefore this match could prove to be a close one. However, due to PSG’s recent form and Champions League triumph, they are most definitely the favourites heading into this match.
For this reason, our betting experts have suggested that PSG to Win is the best value tip for this match. Odds on Highbet of 1.28 means that a £10 stake has the potential to return £12.80.
