Sunday’s Bolivian Primera Division action sees Nacional Potosi host Oriente Petrolero, with both sides looking to build a gap to one another as the top flight table starts to take shape.
The two clubs are separated by just one point after eight games each, and Sunday presents an opportunity for the winner to start pulling away from the mid-table battle. Last season, Potosi finished 11 points and five placed ahead of Oriente, and so they will consider themselves favourites ahead of kick-off.
As the game approaches, here is everything you need to know about both sides ahead of kick-off.
Nacional Potosi Predicted Lineup (4-4-2): Saidt Mustafa (GK); Andres Torrico, Santiago Echeverria, Moises Acuna, Saul Torres; Jhojan Pari, Diego Hoyos, Jorge Rojas, Saulo Guerra; Victor Abrego, Martin Prost.
Though they sit three places off the bottom of the table, one win can change the look of the league table drastically. A victory over Oriente here could propel the home side as high as eighth, on the brink of the Copa Sudamericana qualification spots.
However, there appears to be a disciplinary problem at the club - across all competitions, Nacional have been shown the red card on seven different occasions, a record that is not conducive to doing well in the league.
Their squad is undoubtedly talented, but it’s no use having a capable squad if every week one or two are missing because of poor discipline. Manager Dayler Gutierrez must address this issue if he is to guide his side to a top half finish, which they achieved last season.
Oriente Petrolero Predicted Lineup (4-2-3-1): Jorge Arauz (GK); Vladimir Galvez, Christopher Rodriguez, Alejandro Melean, Roberto Diez; Daniel Rojas, Franz Gonzalez; Ricardo Centurion, Kevin Salvatierra, Walter Chala; Jonathan Cristaldo.
After a slow start, things appear to be starting to click for Oriente. They have won their last two games, including a victory over last year’s runners up The Strongest, showing that they compete with the very best teams in the league.
However, with that being said, it must also be noted that they have suffered some heavy losses this campaign; a 5-1 loss to Aurora and a 5-2 defeat to Independiente Petrolero clearly affected morale in subsequent games, and they are only now starting to emerge from that trough in their form.
They must ensure that if they do fall to a defeat here that it is a narrow one, in order to preserve their improved team morale - it will be much easier to return to form in the following games than from another convincing defeat.
Recent Meetings:
Importantly, Oriente seem to have worked out how to play on the road. They have lost one of their last 4 away games, and showed in a 3-1 win over Guabira last time out that their defence is improving.
That is why our experts have decided that the best tip for this fixture is to back Oriente to win. Odds of 6.7 on Highbet mean that a £10 wager could return almost £70 should the away side pick up the win.
Nacional Potosi 1-2 Oriente
Both teams score far more often than not in the Bolivian top flight, with some games often turning into tennis scores. As well as this, do not be surprised to see a red card or two in this one - the league has certain disciplinary issues.
