Sheffield Wednesday
Blackburn, fresh off the departure of Valerien Ismael, host lowly Wednesday in perhaps the worst match-up that the Championship is capable of offering up this season, which means we should genuinely be in for an entertaining encounter here. If there's any game that Wednesday might be capable of actually getting a result in, it's this one, as long as the pitch doesn't waterlog before they can score.
Key Betting Tips: BTTS @ 2.30 odds on Coral, 2.15 odds on BoyleSports or 2.10 odds on Kwiff all represent good value based on the tip provided by Football Park's advanced algorithm.
Despite Wednesday's shortcomings in front of goal, Blackburn are probably the only side in the league at the moment that they'd be likely to find the net against, besides from West Brom. The odds are pretty good considering the chances of them finally finding the net, so it looks like this is the best value bet.
Blackburn Predicted XI (3-4-1-2): Balázs Tóth; Eiran Cashin, Sean McLoughlin, Lewis Miller; Dion De Neve, Sondre Tronstad, Adam Forshaw, Taylor Gardner-Hickman; Ryoya Morishita; Todd Cantwell, Yuki Ohashi
Blackburn will be without four players in this game, with Matty Litherland and Augustus Kargbo set to return in the next few weeks, while Scott Wharton will have to wait a little longer. Ryan Hedges' broken leg means he won't be back until the latter stages of the season, potentiall as late as May.
Sheffield Wednesday Predicted XI (4-3-3): Murphy Cooper; Liam Cooper, Gabriel Otegbayo, Liam Palmer; Reece Johnson, Svante Ingelsson, Jaden Heskey, Yan Valery; Jamal Lowe, Jerry Yates, Bailey Cadamarteri
As if Wednesday aren't already in enough of a crisis, they now have a litany of injuries to contend with when trying to put together a starting squad. Ernie Weaver, Guilherme Siqueira and Pierce Charles have all suffered long-term injuries which will see them out for the rest of the season. Other injured players that should return soon include Di'Shon Bernard, Dominic Iorfa, George Brown, Ike Ugbo, Max Lowe and Nathaniel Chalobah. They'll have to wait until mid-March for Sean Fusire to return from injury.
Rovers are stuck in the relegation zone after a disastrous campaign under Ismael, who only lasted a year in the job, but what does ease the pressure slightly is that they have a game in hand on several of the sides ahead of them. Whether they can make up the gap is another question, but they've got time to do it at least, and with West Brom only three points ahead of them, who are arguably the worst team in the league at the moment, now is a good chance to climb that vital spot.
Wednesday are still bottom, still on minus points, and have now lost Barry Bannan. To be honest, the season has been written off since the start, so the fans won't really care, about their league position, but the Bannan loss is going to sting. The best thing they can do is start preparing for life in League One next season, ready to mount an unlikely comeback to the Championship.
Matches between these two have been pretty even in recent years, with the last two ending on level terms, while Wednesday have only just managed to have the upper hand in the results, winning twice to Blackburn's one. Even the historical results over the last 15 years are pretty even as well, with a total of 23 games between them since 2011. In that time, Wednesday have beaten their opponents nine times, to which Blackburn can respond with eight wins of their own, proving how closely matched these two tend to be. A further six matches have ended as a draw.
Recent Head-to-Head Results:
Blackburn Last 5 Matches:
Blackburn are in a horrendous run of form, having gone nine games without a win, so I can't say I'm surprised that they've opted to part ways with their manager at this stage, with survival still in reach. They've only been able to find the net twice in their last five games, conceding eight in that same period, which means they need to dramatically improve at both ends of the pitch if they want to turn their prospects for the season around.
Sheffield Wednesday Last 5 Matches:
Wednesday haven't won since the end of September, scored since Boxing Day or even picked up a point since December 29th, so it's not exactly been an enjoyable start to the new year for Owls fans. Every run has to come to an end, though, and considering how poor Blackburn have been, there's a good chance they'll at least find the net in this game, something that their fans would probably be quite shocked to see.

Football Park’s Best Bet: BTTS @ 2.30 odds on Coral - Wednesday have as good a chance as ever to get a result against a managerless Blackburn, but the likelihood of them actually doing so is still pretty low. If there's any game that they'll finally end their goalless run, though, then it's this one, and at these odds, it's probably worth backing as Blackburn will not be confident following the sacking of their manager.
Todd Cantwell (Blackburn): This hasn't been the best season of Cantwell's career, admittedly, but he's still brought attacking energy to Blackburn that has been vital in earning them a few points this season. He's registered two assists in his last four games, taking his tally up to seven goal involvements this season in the Championship, but he'll need to work on his disciplinary record, as he's picked up more yellows than whoever the next manager is would like.
Yan Valery (Sheffield Wednesday): With Premier League experience under his belt after his time at Southampton, Valery brings quality and versatility to the Wednesday squad, able to play pretty much anywhere in defence and midfield. The Tunisian international has been one of the better players for the Owls this season, and if anyone is likely to make a positive impact on the game, I would expect it to be Valery.
