The new year is coming to an end, and with this is the last round of Premier League fixtures of 2025, and there is no time to lose for these sides, as we have a mouth-watering clash in store on Tuesday evening as the form side in the division Aston Villa look to continue their winning streak into the new year, but to do so they will have win at the Emirates.
Arsenal come into this fixture in fine form, unbeaten in their last five with a relatively clean victory over Brighton at the weekend. As for the Villans, their win streak hasn’t been an easy ride, but they seem to get over the line regardless; this will be a tough test for them, but victory in the capital just three days ago will fuel them with all the confidence they need.
It is tough to back either side for a win as this game seems very close to call, but a both teams to score and over 2.5 goals angle looks like great value.
Key Betting Tips: BTTS & Over 2.5 Goals at 2.50 odds on TalkSPORT bet represents excellent value based on the tip provided by our algorithm.
odds subject to change.
This match looks enticing from a both teams to score and over 2.5 goals outlook. The Gunners’ defence has been incredible this season, but in recent weeks, with injuries and the constant rotation of centre backs has seen them blink, keeping just two clean sheets in their last six. Villa have found some spectacular form themselves over the past couple months, and have found the quality required in the final third to overcome some other strong defences in the league, and we believe they find a goal or two here.
Arsenal Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): David Raya; Piero Hincapie, Gabriel, William Saliba, Declan Rice; Martin Zubimendi, Martin Odegaard; Gabriel Martinelli, Eberechi Eze, Bukayo Saka; Viktor Gyokeres.
Great news for the Gunners, who will likely find themselves with both Gabriel and Saliba starting for the first time together since the start of November. Mikel Arteta won’t be missing anyone going to the African Cup of Nations, but will be without the injured Riccardo Calafiori, Ben White, Cristhian Mosquera, Max Dowman and Kai Havertz.
Aston Villa Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Emiliano Martinez; Ian Maatsen, Victor Lindelof, Ezri Konsa, Lamare Bogarde; Youri Tielemans, Amadou Onana; Morgan Rogers, Emiliano Buendia, John McGinn; Ollie Watkins.
After Watkins’ brace in Villa’s resilient comeback win over Chelsea, he is expected to start. Alongside Evann Guessand out in Morocco for the AFCON and then Matty Cash and Boubacar Kamara out suspended after receiving their fifth booking at the weekend, the visitors also find themselves without Harvey Elliott, Pau Torres, Tyrone Mings and Ross Barkley through injury.
Arsenal find themselves top of the tree after Christmas for the second time in three seasons now but will be hoping they can stay there this campaign. The Gunners have started emphatically and have a two-point lead after 18 games, boasting a record of 13 wins, three draws and two losses. Their +22-goal difference has them favourable to Villa but not Manchester City should this metric come down to deciding who gets the title.
As for Villa, they find themselves just three points behind the Gunners in third, so can draw themselves level with them if they can topple the mighty reds. After their awful start, failing to score in any of their opening four games, but have since netted in every game and have become serious title contenders.
Recent Head-to-Head Results:
Through the last 15 years, these sides have met on 27 occasions. The fixture does seem to be Arsenal-dominated, with the reds winning 17 to Villa eight. In saying this, however, Villa have won three of the last five meetings.
Arsenal Recent Matches:
Since their defeat to Villa at the start of the month, Arsenal have got back into some form, although granted they haven’t been at their best. With Saliba and Gabriel back now, however, we could start to see them adding quality to their already solid results.
Aston Villa Last 5 Matches:
The comeback win over Chelsea made it 11 wins in a row, and the Premier League elite will now have to seriously start taking notice of Unai Emery’s side. They are not necessarily blowing their opponents out of the water in these wins, but wins are wins and three points on the board, and not many sides have been able to replicate the performances Villa are on a regular basis.
Our advanced algorithm analyses over 200 data points to generate these predictions with confidence in a high scoring affair. The model factors in current form, head-to-head records, player availability, and tactical matchups.
Football Park’s Best Bet: BTTS & Over 2.5 Goals @ 2.50 - Recent form suggests confidence in a high scoring game. With an 83.30% chance of both teams to score and a 75% chance of three or more goals being found according to our incredible in-house algorithm, this seems like a strong value option.
Viktor Gyokeres (Arsenal): The big Swede has been monumental up top for Arsenal so far. He has returned one in his last two games, and his presence up top will give the visitors something to seriously worry about.
Ollie Watkins (Villa): Now Watkins may not be the standout player of the season so far for Villa, but his incredible cameo off the bench at the weekend sees him come into this fixture in fine form. He also showed against Chelsea that he doesn’t need much space or time to get a good shot away, and Villa will be hoping he can score a goal or two again on Tuesday.
