Match Details: Monday 21st July | Best Denki Stadium | J. League | 10:00 GMT
An early Monday morning kick off in the Japanese J. League brings us Avispa Fukuoka vs Kyoto Sanga FC, as the visitors make a push for top three.
It is all very tight at the top of the league table, offering Kyoto a huge chance to put themselves in the mix for the title. On the other hand, Monday’s hosts occupy a spot nearer the bottom half of the table, but with little threat of relegation.
Key Betting Tip: Both Teams to Score offers good value @ 1.92.
Avispa Fukuoka Predicted XI: Obata, Tashiro, Ando, Shichi, Iwasaki, Matsuoka, Akino, Fujimoto, Konno, Kitajima, Wellington
Kyoto Sanga Predicted XI: Ota, Sugai, Suzuki, Miyamoto, Fukuda, Fukouka, Kawasaki, Hirato, Hara, Tulio, Nagasawa
Avispa Fukuoka have just not made any progress from last season whatsoever. They finished 12th in the J. League last term and now, as it stands, they sit in the exact same spot. Whilst they are comfortably nine points clear of the relegation zone at this stage; they still have a long way to go to reach the top three spots. However, Fukuoka’s form has certainly picked up in the past couple matches. They are unbeaten in their last four league games, winning two of them in the process. Furthermore, they managed to grab a draw against the league leaders Vissel Kobe in their most recent J. League match.
Kyoto Sanga have had a brilliant season so far in the J. League. They currently sit in fifth spot on 41 points, chasing the top three positions for an AFC Champions League place. They are five points behind top spot, but only three points behind Kashiwa Reysol in third. Furthermore, Kyoto’s form has been fantastic as of late; they have won both of their last two matches in the league and are unbeaten in their last four.
In the last few years, this fixture has been one that has frequently gone either way. Fukuoka are also the most recent victor from this matchup, winning this season’s reverse fixture back in March.
Recent Head-to-Head Results:
Despite Avispa Fukuoka winning the last meeting between these sides, neither team has won this fixture back-to-back since Fukuoka did it back in 2022.
Overall, this game is hard to predict. Avispa Fukuoka managed to secure the three points last time out; however, Kyoto Sanga are performing much better in the league, with a potential title charge on their hands.
With this in mind, a 2-2 draw looks to be a reasonable prediction for this match.
Football Park’s Best Bet: Both Teams to Score @ 1.92.
(Odds are subject to change)
Yuji Kitajima (Avispa Fukuoka) - The 24-year-old is certainly someone to look out for on Monday. Despite only making 13 appearances for Fukuoka this season, he has already made an impact on the pitch. This includes him scoring and assisting in the club's second most recent game, helping them to beat Albirex Niigata 3-2.
Marco Tulio (Kyoto Sanga FC) - The Brazilian has been absolutely fantastic in the J. League recently. In his last two matches for Kyoto, he has picked up four goals and one assists, single-handedly bringing home six points for his team.
