The race for European spots come down to the final day as Osasuna make the short trip east to Alaves knowing a victory is necessary to stand a chance to qualify for Europe next season.
Alaves’ form over the past weeks has seen them retain their La Liga status for next season as their two recent 1-0 victories now make it impossible for them to drop down into the bottom three.
Osasuna hit a blip in form between February 10 and April 7, going winless for eight league games, falling out of the European spots completely, however, they have since won five out of their last seven, making European qualification a real possibility. They will require either Rayo Vallecano or Celta Vigo slipping up to lower-placed teams, but they must do their job first.
As the game approaches, here is everything you need to know about both sides ahead of kick-off.
Alaves clash with Osasuna at the Estadio de Mendizorroza on Saturday 24th May.

Alaves Predicted Lineup (4-1-3-2): Sivera; Sanchez, Mourino, Garces, Tenaglia; Blanco; Alena, Guevara, Vicente; Guridi, Garcia.
Moussa Diarra and Abdelkabir Abqar are both injury doubts for this final game of the 2024/25 season.
Three wins, a draw and one defeat are what has seen Alaves’ survival confirmed. Three 1-0 victories against Real Valladolid, Valencia and Real Sociedad although they may feel fortunate with the former two, which were both won via the penalty spot. They suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Athletic Bilbao after they earned a valuable point at home to Atletico Madrid.
They have performed very well defensively against some strong teams recently, although they may perhaps feel fortunate with some results. Eyes will be on their expected unchanged backline, who will hope to end the season with a third clean sheet in a row.
Osasuna Predicted Lineup (4-2-3-1): Herrera; Cruz, Catena, Boyomo, Areso; Torro, Ibanez; Zaragoza, Oroz, Garcia; Budimir.
Osasuna’s sole doubt for this crucial clash is Kike Barja, who was taken off shortly after coming on last week against Espanyol.
Osasuna have also won three, drew one and lost one in their las five matches. A 1-0 victory over Sevilla was followed by a tough 4-2 loss to Villarreal which made their quest for European football almost out of reach. However, a good draw in Betis has been followed up by two strong 2-0 wins over Atletico Madrid and Espanyol which keeps their hopes alive.
Ante Budimir has carried his side all season long and comes into their most important game this season having scored in his last three outings. He also found himself on the scoresheet in the reverse fixture back in December in a 2-2 draw.
Both teams have won twice in recent meetings, making this one potentially difficult to call the winner of.
Recent Meetings:
Since Alaves’ survival is now confirmed, they do not have anything to play for on Sunday. Meanwhile, Osasuna must win to keep pressure on Celta and Rayo in order to stay in the hunt for European football. Osasuna are on really good form as well and we expect this to continue here in this vital match.
