With four matches left to go in the 2024/25 La Liga season, the race for the Champions League heats up. Villarreal needs a victory here to strengthen their bid on fifth position in order to qualify.
Girona have had a rather poor season in comparison to the last; fifteenth place is where they sit, just six above the relegation zone. However, four points in their last two has put them in a position where they do not necessarily have to win, but it would be ideal to confirm survival.
Villarreal currently reside in fifth place at the moment, and a victory here would increase their chances of playing in Europe’s most prestigious club competition. They have been relatively solid in recent games, so will hope to build their momentum ahead of the run-in.

Girona Predicted Lineup (4-3-3): Gazzaniga; Blind, Krejci, Lopez, Martinez; Herrera, Arthur, Martin; Portu, Stuani, Tsygankov.
Tottenham Hostspur loanee Bryan Gil is still sidelined for this game, but an unchanged lineup is expected.
As mentioned, Girona have picked up a draw and a win in their last two- against Leganes and Mallorca respectively. Before this, however, were three defeats to Real Betis, Osasuna and Alaves.
Stuani is captain and will hope to secure just his fourth start of the campaign, and if he does, then he will be the player to keep an eye on for Girona. He has picked up three goals in his last three games, so will hope that run continues.
Villareal Predicted Lineup (4-4-2): Junior; Cardona, Costa, Foyth, Femenia; Pino, Parejo, Comesana, Pepe; Perez, Barry.
Yeremy Pino is expected to be back in the starting lineup after his suspension for accumulating too many yellow cards.
10 points from their last five games has really seen a late surge from Villarreal to really compete for the fifth spot, and two wins in their last two against Osasuna and Espanyol has confirmed their challenge. Before that, they suffered a humbling 3-0 defeat to Celta Vigo after drawing with Real Sociedad and beating Real Betis.
Four goals in his last five games and Ayoze Perez is looking to end his campaign strongly. As mentioned previously, the former Leicester player has scored 16 times so far this season and so he will look to add to his tally against a vulnerable Girona side.
All of their five previous meetings have come in the league with Villarreal holding the bragging rights in this fixture with three wins to Girona’s one.
Recent Meetings:
If they want to qualify for the Champions League next season, this is a must-win. They are in good form and so is their star striker, so we expect a result to follow for the Yellows.
Therefore, we have gone for Villarreal to Win as the best tip for this match.
