After another international break, LaLiga football is soon to be back. This weekend is match-week nine of the season and to kick things off, Real Oviedo will play hosts to Espanyol on Friday night.
Both sides have had very juxtaposing starts to the campaign, with Oviedo in some danger near the bottom. Meanwhile, the visitors could be making a push for Europe.
Key Betting Tip: Espanyol to Win offers good value @ 2.30.
Oviedo Predicted XI: Escandell, Alhassane, Carmo, Bailly, Ahijado, Brekalo, Colombatto, Dendoncker, Hassan, Rondon, Reina
Oviedo have four players sidelined ahead of this game. Domingues, Vazquez, Lemos and Santi Cazorla are all injured.
Espanyol Predicted XI: Dmitrovic, Romero, Cabrera, Riedel, El Hilali, Exposito, Lozano, Dolan, Milla, Carreras, Fernández
Espanyol have two injured players in their squad. That includes Charles Pickel and Javier Puado.
Following their recent promotion, Real Oviedo haven’t had the best start to LaLiga life. The Blues currently sit one place above the relegation zone in 17th, after losing six from their opening eight and winning the two others. They managed to pick up wins against Valencia and Real Sociedad, but have only managed to score one goal in all of their other games. This puts Oviedo on six points to start with, just one point aloft of Mallorca in 20th place, but already 15 points away from top spot. However, the fixtures do get slightly easier for Oviedo; their next contest against a top-six side is against Atletico Madrid in over six weeks time.
After escaping relegation by the skin of their teeth last term, Espanyol have got off to a cracking start this season. Eight games in, the Parakeets have managed to win three, draw three and lose the other two. Other than those two defeats against Real Betis and Real Madrid, they have picked up points against the likes of Atletico Madrid, Real Sociedad, Valencia and Osasuna. This puts Espanyol ninth in the LaLiga table, with 12 points to their name, just one point away from the top six and already six points clear of the drop zone. However, their form has slightly dropped off recently, having not won a game in their last four.
This fixture has produced a mixed bag of results in previous years. However, it was Espanyol who won the last affair in miraculous fashion, as they defeated Friday’s opponents 2-1 on aggregate in a LaLiga2 playoff final to be promoted in 2024.

(Odds are subject to change)
Salomon Rondo (Oviedo) - The Venezuelan has a knack for scoring. Last term he netted 26 goals and six assists for Pachuca in Mexico. Now 36 years old, Rondon still hasn’t lost his touch, after already finding the net for Oviedo in his second most recent game.
Pere Milla (Espanyol) - The attacking midfielder has already bagged three goals so far this season, matching his tally of last term. However, the Spaniard hasn’t contributed in his last two games.
