Match Details: Saturday 9th August | Weston Homes Stadium | League One | 12:30 GMT
It is match-week two in League One, as Peterborough host newly relegated Luton Town on Saturday.
Luton look to stay on track from their opening day win, whereas the hosts still need to find their first points of the season. However, a couple of key injuries are hindering Posh’s chances.
Key Betting Tip: Both Teams to Score offers good value @ 1.55.
Peterborough Predicted XI: Reyes, Mills, Wallin, Okagbue, Johnston, Khela, Collins, Lisbie, Lolos, Hayes, Ihionvien
The Posh picked up two major injuries prior to their season opener against Cardiff, with both new goalkeeper Alex Bass and club captain Sam Hughes out for a significant amount of time.
Luton Predicted XI: Keeley, Naismith, Anderson, Makosso, Bramall, Saville, Walsh, Walters, Alli, Clark, Yates
Luton signed two new players in the hours before their first game against Wimbledon last week. These two were wing-back Cohen Bramall and star striker Jerry Yates.
Darren Ferguson’s Peterborough didn’t necessarily get off to the best start in League One, but there were certainly many positives to take from their match against Cardiff City last weekend. The Posh lost 2-1 on the day, despite taking the early lead through a Bradley Ihionvien penalty. Ultimately, it was two early second half goals from Cardiff which sealed the deal. However, Ferguson’s men created several key chances where they could have scored and did look like they had made improvements from last season. Cardiff’s quality just shone through, as expected considering they were a Championship side just a couple of months ago.
Luton Town had the privilege of being part of the EFL’s opening game this season, as they took on AFC Wimbledon at Kenilworth Road last Friday. Luton won 1-0 on the night after a freak own goal from Wimbledon’s Ryan Johnson. However, the game did not display that result, a draw would have been a fair outcome considering neither team really produced many chances nor looked like scoring. To many’s surprise, Luton didn’t actually look too strong against newly promoted opposition, but the few signings they have brought in since may help to brush up their opening performance.
These two outfits haven’t faced each other since they were both back in the Championship three years ago. Overall, Luton came out on top that season, but there has been a mixed bag of results in the past.

(Odds are subject to change)
Bradley Ihionvien (Peterborough) - With the losses of all three of their top scorers from last year, Posh need someone else to become their next talisman. Ihionvien is starting to display traits of this, after scoring a handful of goals in pre-season. The striker also scored Posh’s only goal against Cardiff last week, through a composed penalty.
Jerry Yates (Luton) - The striker signed 15 minutes before Luton kicked off against Wimbledon last Friday and therefore did not play. However, if Yates starts against Posh this weekend, he could be a handful for the home side. The 28-year-old is renowned for scoring goals across the EFL, as he bagged 21 goals in his last League One campaign five years ago.
