Match Details: Saturday 26th July | Toyota Stadium | Major League Soccer | 01:30 GMT
In the early hours of Saturday morning, FC Dallas will take on NYCFC in the MLS, as the latter conclude their four-game road-trip.
This is one of NYCFC’s few away trips into the Western Conference this season, as they prepare to take on Western’s 12th placed team. Meanwhile, the visitors sit in eighth place themselves in the Eastern side and are a strong contender to reach the Championship Playoff spots.
Key Betting Tip: Both Teams to Score offers good value @ 1.51.
Dallas Predicted XI: Paes, Torquato, Ibeagha, Augusto, Abubakar, Ramiro, Ferreira, Farrington, Lletget, Kamugo, Musa
FC Dallas have three players ruled out with injury ahead of this fixture, including striker Anderson Julio, who had four goals prior to his leg injury in late June.
NYCFC Predicted XI: Freese, O’Toole, Haak, Martins, Gray, Shore, O’Neill, Moralez, Perea, Martinez, Fernandez
Similarly, NYC also have three players on the sidelines, one being their joint-top scorer Hannes Wolf, who had scored nine goals in the MLS until he got injured last week.
FC Dallas have had a fairly mediocre campaign in the MLS so far this season. The Bulls currently occupy 12th place in the Western Conference, out of the 15 teams competing. Whilst they are three positions away from a Championship Playoff spot and only four points adrift, they have some tricky fixtures approaching. Furthermore, they have not necessarily been in the best form themselves, losing four out of their last six matches in the MLS. All of these losses came consecutively as well, until a draw and a win in their last two games helped steer them back on track.
New York City have enjoyed a slightly more successful season in the MLS so far. While the side form the Big Apple participate in the league’s Eastern Conference, they sit in eighth spot, taking up one of the nine Championship Playoff places. However, it is still al to play for, with 10th place Chicago Fire only two points adrift of the Pigeons. NYC have also been quite inconsistent as of late, winning four, losing three and drawing two out of their last nine matches.
As displayed through both sides’ league positions, FC Dallas have not beaten NYCFC since September 2015. Although this ten-year wait has consisted of many draws, NYC have also beaten Saturday’s opposition a handful of times.
Recent Head-to-Head Results:
This Saturday will be the first time that these two sides have met in over two years.
Despite them being a long way from home, NYCFC are certainly the favourites in this game. Their table position in the MLS and track record against Dallas simply speaks for itself. However, after winning their last match, Dallas will certainly give them a test.
With this in mind, a 2-1 win to NYCFC seems to be a reasonable prediction for this game, considering all the facts stated above.
Football Park’s Best Bet: Both Teams to Score @ 1.51 (Highbet).
(Odds are subject to change)
Petar Musa (Dallas) - The Croatian has continued to be FC Dallas’ star-man this season, with an impeccable goal record. The striker has bagged 11 goals and five assists in 20 MLS games this season, not only becoming the club’s top scorer, but also top assist maker. In his last match, the 27-year-old managed to net two goals and grab an assist also, displaying the red-hot form he is in right now.
Alonso Martinez (NYCFC) - Having an injured striker in Hannes Wolf is never nice, but it has certainly been alleviated with the form of his attacking partner Alonso Martinez. The Costa Rican has buried nine goals in the MLS this season, including one in his second most recent game against Orlando.
