Most of the National League have just a single matchday left to play heading into the regular season's final week. This is not the case for Solihull and Rochdale though, with this Tuesday night fixture both teams’ penultimate fixture of the season. This game has no implications on either club’s destiny in the league. Rochdale secured a playoff spot with a 5-1 win against Hartlepool last weekend. Solihull will play fifth-tier football again next season, sitting comfortably in mid-table.
KICK OFF: ARMCO Arena, 19:45 Tuesday 29th April. WHERE TO WATCH: DAZN
It’s all gone wrong for the Moors this season, heading into the new year the West Midlands side were sixth and five points inside the play-offs, even ahead of Rochdale. Since then, they have won four and lost 11, damaging their promotion hopes completely. After losing in the 2022 and 2024 playoff finals, Solihull cannot seem to catch a break. Their form saw a brief upturn which swept away relegation worries in the last month, winning three games in a row before losing to promotion hopefuls York last weekend.
Predicted Line Up: Laurie Walker, James Clarke, Jordan Tunnicliffe, Alex Whitmore, Joe Newton, Jamey Osborne, Jack Wells-Morrison, John Bostock, Elliot Thorpe, Joe Dodoo, Tahvon Campbell
The Moors will be without talisman striker Connor Wilkinson, who has scored 15 goals for them this season. Tahvon Campbell has scored two goals in seven games since signing for Solihull from Rochdale in February, the striker will be looking to prove himself against his former club in this match.
After 102 years in the football league, Rochdale crashed out of the EFL and failed to reach the playoffs last season, finishing 11th. Now with a top seven finish confirmed, the Dale will be focusing on the post-season without a doubt, but after scoring five last weekend, will be full of goalscoring confidence. No team has better form than Rochdale in the last four games, with the club boasting three wins and a single draw in that time.
Predicted Line Up: Killian Barrett, Kyron Gordon, Ethan Ebanks-Landell, Sam Beckwith, Leon Ayinde, Tobi Adebayo-Rowling, Harvey Gilmour, Tarryn Allarakhia, Aidan Barlow, Devante Rodney, Ian Henderson
Devante Rodney has five goals in his last four games, including a brace last weekend. He has 15 goals for the season after dropping down to the National League with the club.
There is little history between the sides as Rochdale have spent the majority of their history in the Football League, and Solihull Moors have never played higher than the fifth tier. Their first meeting was at the beginning of last season, meaning the clubs have met three times, with Solihull winning every time. The scorelines of those three matches are as follows:
Rochdale will want to continue their momentum so that they don’t slip up in the play-offs. Expect goals from this game, with both teams having a relaxed defence, knowing there is nothing to play for.
For this reason, our betting experts say Half Time Over 1.5 Goals is the best value tip for this game. With odds at 7/4, a bet of £10 could see a potential return of up to £27.50.
