Two sides are fighting for survival in Portugal as dead last Boavista make the trip to AVS Futebol SAD in a scrap which could see the visitors relegated if AVS can win.
AVS have picked up just four wins this season, the lowest in the division. They sit in 16th on 24 points, currently in the relegation playoff place with three matches to play. They are without a win since the start of March and have since seen just one point in their last seven games.
Boavista are starting to pick up more points, however, they may have left it too late. They may have a chance with another win here as 16th place will at least give them a chance to keep their status in the Portuguese topflight. They currently obtain both the worst offence and second worst defence in the division.
The match will take place on Monday 5th May at 20:15 BST.
As the game approaches, here is everything you need to know about both sides ahead of kick-off.
AVS Predicted Lineup (3-4-3): Ochoa; Roux, Teixeira, Castro; Afonso, Mendonca, Tavares, Fonseca; Mercado, Luis, Akinsola.
AVS should be without Gustavo Assuncao after he picked up his tenth yellow card of the campaign in their last outing in the capital.
AVS have lost four of their last five. They have scored just three goals in that time, meanwhile shipping 18, amounting to a -15 goal-differential. Their only point came at home to Casa Pia in a 1-1 draw- they came so close to a win but conceded in the fifth minute of added time. When they lose, they lose badly, all four defeats coming by a three-goal margin. Their biggest defeat came last week- a 6-0 defeat to Benfica.
Their squad offers some forgotten stars. For example, ex-Chelsea youngster Lucas Piazon and Mexican goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa. Both superb back in their day, and they will now want to be focused in keeping their current sides in the division. We certainly expect a scrappy game here.
Boavista Predicted Lineup (4-2-3-1): Vaclik; Ferreira, Fogning, Abascal, Kakay; Silva, Perez; Agra, van Ginkel, Kone ; Diaby.
Miguel Reisinho should miss this match due to accumulating 10 yellow cards this season.
Boavista have picked up six points in their last five games. Both of their victories have come in their past two away days. Wins over Rio Ave and Farense have taken them in touching distance of fighting for their survival. They did recently suffer a tough 5-0 loss at home to Sporting Lisbon but will not let that dampen their survival chances.
30% of their goals have come from the penalty spot this season. If they have one this time though, their usual spot-kick taker is missing, meaning someone else will have to take responsibility for the ever-reliable Reisinho, who has been Boavista’s top rated player so far this season.
These two sides have only met each other once- in the reverse fixture where the tie ended in a 0-0 stalemate.
There does not seem like much can separate these two teams. Both have poor this season, however, as we get down the crunch end of the season, both sides have no option other than to attack as this is a huge opportunity for both teams. Boavista have performed very well on the road recently, so momentum could do them a massive favour here.
Therefore, we have gone for Both Teams To Score as the best tip for this match.
