Recent form has not quite been kind to Jose Mournho and his team. Wth Benfica finding themselves knocked out of both domestic cup competitions in the space of a week, meaning a trophyless campaign could be on the horizon for The Eagles.
Estrela 0-5 Estoril Praia
Estrela 3-3 Braga
Famalicão 2-3 Estrela
Estrela 0-0 Moreirense
Porto 3-1 Estrela
Estrela are winless in their last five Liga Primeira matches, with their last being a damaging 0-5 thrashing at home. They face a tough ask on Sunday to end that run however...
Ukrainian attacking midfielder Heorhiy Sudakov has four goals and two assists so far this season in Liga Portugal, and will look to be the creative spark Benfica need to open up what is likely to be a determined Estrela low-block.
Experienced 35-year old Brazilian goalkeeper Renan Riberio will need to be on top of his game between the sticks in Lisbon on Sunday if his side are to walk away from the capital with a result.
Despite recent shaky form, we can't look past a Benfica win in this fixture. Jose Mourinho's side have the home advantage and our facing a side who have been struggling to keep the ball out of their net in recent weeks.
