The Premier League is close to it's final curtain call for the 24/25 campaign, but that isn't to say that there is a lacking of intrigue in several areas of England's top 20.
Nottingham Forest's odds-defying run towards a Champions League place has been one of the biggest talking points of the season, but a late dip in form has seen the Reds slide from a position of comfort, as clear as 6 points into 3rd place at some stages, into 6th, hoping for a late resurgence in form and a couple of luck with rival results.
The next step on Forest's campaign is a not-so-friendly visit from fellow East Midlands side, Leicester City. The Foxes, already relegated with nothing to lose, would love nothing more than to put a local roadblock on The Red's wishful road, leaving this Super Sunday encounter as one to watch.
You can catch all the action for this one (which is NOT the East Midlands Derby) on Sky Sports Main Event. The match will commence at 2:15pm on Sunday, 11/05/2025.
Nottingham Forest Predicted Lineup: Sels; Aina, Milenkovic, Murillo, Williams, Anderson, Sangare, Dominguez, Gibbs-White, Elanga, Wood Nottingham Forest's story this season has been truly remarkable.
Following on from two tense seasons in which The Reds were favoured for the drop-zone, ultimately finishing 16th and 17th, the East Midlands outfit has surged to prominence under the tutelage of Nuno Espirito Santo, seeing themselves as serious contenders for a Champions League spot, a competition they won in 1979 and 1980 (then called the European Cup), the latter being the last year in which they competed in the competition, being knocked out in the first round of the subsequent campaign, and never returning.
Though Forest have been formidable across the season, claiming huge wins against the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool whilst doing the double against Tottenham and Manchester United, their form has caused slight panic toward the business end of the season, with a dramatic Everton winner and a poor showing against Brentford causing particular displeasure.
With just one win in their last five league fixtures, Forest will be hoping to put it right when it matters most, and they will be hoping that Leicester's dismal season won't end with The Foxes claiming sought-after bragging rights.
In terms of who Forest will have available for this match, star winger Callum Hudson-Odoi is expected to remain on the sidelines. Chaotic defender Murillo went off with a knock in their last game, a 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace, but is regarded as being fit to appear.
Leicester City Predicted Lineup: Stolarczyk; Justin, Coady, Faes, Thomas, Skipp, Ndidi, McAteer, Ayew, El Khannouss, Vardy Leicester City's season, in stark contrast to their Sunday hosts, has certainly been nothing to write home about.
The Foxes picked up only their second league win of 2025 in their last game, seeing off also-relegated Southampton 2-0, which was only their 5th win of the campaign.
However, this disappointment does not make Leicester any less a formidable foe for Forest come Sunday. Leicester may not have anything to play for anymore, but they will be doing everything to give their fans something to smile about as they sink down into the Championship.
With the iconic figure of Jamie Vardy departing the club at the end of the season, the two-time Golden Boot winner needs just one more strike to make it 200 goals in a Leicester City shirt. Accomplishing that, as well as halting a hopeful achievement of their East Midlands cohorts up the M1, would do plenty to spark a fire in The Foxes. With Forest hitting the buffers at a crucial stage of the season, there may be plenty of opportunity for Leicester to take advantage and do just that.
Their list of hit personnel reads darker than Forest's, with Mads Hermansen, Facundo Buonanotte, Bobby Decordova-Reid and Ricardo Pereira all set to miss out.
Last five meetings:
With Nottingham Forest nervy, we don't expect them to breakdown Leicester's defence, which will be full of spirit, before the halftime whistle blows. However, we do see Forest claiming a much, much needed win at The Foxes expense once all is said and done.
We predict a Half-Time/Full-Time betting line going the way of Draw/Nottingham Forest. You can grab this at odds of 29/10 over at Ladbrokes, meaning a £10 stake returns £39!
Nottingham Forest 2-0 Leicester City Though Forest may not settle any nerves, in their classic fashion, with a first-half goal, we can see them grabbing an all-important opener in the second half, followed with a quick-ish second once Leicester heads drop.
