In the relegation group of the Scottish Premiership, Motherwell andKilmarnock are due to face off, with hopes of avoiding the drop into the second Scottish Division. Motherwell are the hosts, with Kilmarnock making the trip to Fir Park. Its a midweek fixture, with the game kicking off on Wednesday 14th May, at 19:45BST. Unfortuantely, the game will not be available to stream for UK viewers.
Motherwell have scored five goals in their last five matches.
Kilmarnock have doubled that, scoring ten in their last five matches.
Danny Armstrong has created thirteen big chances across the season for Kilmarnock.
Bearing in mind that they are currently a part of the relegation group in the Premiership, it would be fair to say their season hasn't panned out the way it should have, although they are still ten points clear of the relegation zone.
The Scottish side have lost two of their last five matches, picking up two wins and a draw along the way. Tawanda Maswanhise is the top scorer for the side, with six goals all season, level with Tom Sparrow.
Motherwell Predicted Lineup: Oxborough; Seddon, Casey, O'Donnell, Sparrow; Miller, Halliday; Thompson, Slattery, Maswanhise; Watt.
Kilmarnock sit just behind Motherwell in the table, in ninth place with thirty-five points. In their last five, they have won four, losing their only game to league leaders, Celtic.
Bruce Anderson has led the side for goals this season, scoring eleven times.
Kilmarnock Predicted Lineup: O'Hara; Ndaba, Findlay, Deas, Mayo; Murray, Donnelly, Watson, Armstrong; Anderson, Wales.
Not much has been able to separate these two sides in their recent seasons. In their most recent fixture, Kilmarnock ventured out as 2-0 winners, whilst before that Motherwell hadn't lost against their opponents since 2023.
05/04/25- Kilmarnock 2-0 Motherwell
08/01/25- Kilmarnock 0-0 Motherwell
20/12/24- Motherwell 1-1 Kilmarnock
18/08/24- Motherwell 1-0 Kilmarnock
03/02/24- Motherwell 1-1 Kilmarnock
When we look at the table, their clearly isn't that much of a gap between these two sides. This would suggest that the game between the two could be a tough encounter.
Although, when we look at their most recent form in all competitions, Kilmarnock are clearly on the better run, doubling the amount of goals scored of Motherwell in their last five matches. They have also only lost once in their last five, which was to Celtic.
Therefore, it should be expected that Kilmarnock would be the winners of this fixture, considering the recent form of the two sides as well as recent head to head fixtures.
I think this game should be straightforward, as we can see Kilmarnock are the far better side recently, with Motherwell facing a struggle in front of goal, something which Kilmarnock aren't. Therefore, I think Kilmarnock should win 2-0.
