UEFA Champions League - League Phase Gameweek 8
Johan Cruyff ArenA (Ajax)
Kick-Off: 20:00pm GMT
A huge game towards the bottom end of the UEFA Champions League league phase as Ajax host Olympiacos with both sides hoping for the same positive fate, a place in the knockout-playoffs of the competition.
It looked like any hope Ajax had of progressing was dead come matchweek five, as they had lost every one of their fixtures and were rooted to the bottom of the table, however back-to-back wins have put them just two points away from the top 24 and in with a shout of getting over the line.
Olynpiacos meanwhile currently occupy the spot Ajax and others want to be, in 24th by the skin of theri teeth. The Greek giants don't necessarily need a win in Amsterdam unlike their hosts, but a point at least is an absolute must with the likes of Napoli, Copenhagen and of course Ajax right behind them.
Football Park’s Best Bet: Ajax to win @ 2.80 - Our team of in-house betting tipsters have predicted an Ajax win in this fixture. Their home advantage, and head-to-head record justify confidence in this selection.

Ajax 2-0 FC Voldendam
Villerreal 1-2 Ajax
Ajax 2-2 Go Ahead Eagles
AZ Alkmaar 6-0 Ajax
Telstar 2-3 Ajax
It is no secret by now that things both on and off the pitch at Ajax over the last few years have not been great, and whilst that remains still the case, following the 6-0 thrashing to AZ Alkmaar in the KNVB Cup, Ajax have improved as they look to build a strong run of form both in Europe and domestically.
Olympiacos 1-0 Volos
Olympiacos 2-0 Bayer Leverkusen
Olympiacos 0-2 PAOK (Greek Cup)
Atromitos 0-2 Olympiacos
Olympiacos 1-1 Kifsia
Olympiacos have been strong domestically of late, but their 2-0 victory over Leverkusen in the Champions League was especialyl impressive. And could prove vital come the final whisltle in Amsterdam on Wednesday night.
20 Year-old Belgian winger Mika Godts has been a shining light for Ajax this season, and is both theri top scorer and top assister in all competitions from the flanks.
Portuguese winger Daniel Podence will be famialr to Premier League watchers due ot his time at Wolves, with the winger still producing in Greece with Olympiacos. However, is still searching for his first UEFA Champions League goal of the season.
Ajax have no option other than to win this fixture, and with the home advantage we believe they will. However, only time will tell whether it will be enough to squeeze through in the Champions League top 24.
