Match Details: Tuesday 4th November | Anfield Stadium | Champions League | 20:00 GMT
The Champions League is back this week, featuring one of the most anticipated fixtures in this year’s qualification phase of the tournament. That being Liverpool vs Real Madrid on Tuesday night.
Both teams are absolutely colossal in Europe, as they each sit in the top three for most Champions League titles ever. However, the hosts are entering this tie with lowered confidence, after hitting poor form in the Premier League.
Key Betting Tip: Real Madrid to Win offers good value @ 2.50.
Liverpool Predicted XI: Mamardashvili, Robertson, van Dijk, Konaté, Bradley, Mac Allister, Gravenberch, Gakpo, Szoboszlai, Salah, Ekittike
Arne Slot’s men have several players out with injuries ahead of this game. That includes Alisson, Leoni, Jones, Frimpong, Bajcetic and Isak.
Real Madrid Predicted XI: Courtois, Carreras, Huijsen, Militao, Valverde, Bellingham, Tchouaméni, Güler, Vinicius, Mbappé, Mastantuono
Real Madrid have just the three players sidelined through injury. Those being Rüdiger, Carvajal and Alaba.
Liverpool are enduring a real torrid patch of form as of late. Despite picking up all three points over the weekend against Aston Villa, the Reds had lost six games from the previous seven beforehand. Four of those losses were in the Premier League, against Crystal Palace, Chelsea, Manchester United and Brentford. One of them was in the EFL Cup against Palace again and then the sixth and final loss was in the Champions League against Galatasaray over a month ago. However, the one win did in fact come in the Champions League against Frankfurt two weeks ago. Liverpool now sit 10th in the Champions League table, which is only a spot good enough to take them to the round-of-16 playoffs. However, with six points to their name, they are only separated from the top eight by a matter of goal difference.
Real Madrid just continue to be the emphatic Real Madrid we all know. The Spanish side currently top LaLiga, after earning 30 points from their opening 11 games. 10 of those games were victories, with just one loss alongside them. That loss (against Atletico Madrid) was also the only defeat Real have faced all season. That of course means that Xabi Alonso’s men have won all three of their opening games in the Champions League, warranting nine points and putting them fifth in the table. They also only conceded one goal throughout those matches, which will certainly give them confidence heading into a tricky affair at Anfield, up against a strong attack.
This matchup has made an extremely intense affair in recent years and even featured as the Champions League final twice since 2018. From this, the results have gone both ways, with Liverpool the most recent victors but Real Madrid being the more consistent.
