Arsenal were overturned and dominated by PSG in the first leg, so they now must win in Paris to have a chance to progress. PSG take a slender 1-0 lead to their home, so can they hold it and progress to their second ever Champions League final?
PSG looked very strong in London, and they come into this match looking to knock out their third English opposition in the competition, doing the same to both Liverpool and Aston Villa. They won their final league phase match to progress to the knockout playoff match where they demolished their French compatriots Brest 10-0 after two legs. Following this, they knocked out Liverpool on penalties at Anfield. They then took care of a feisty Aston Villa 5-4, seeing themselves through to the position they now find themselves in.
Arsenal had looked one of the favourites for this competition, especially after knocking out Real Madrid 5-1, winning home and away. However, in the first leg of this semi final, they looked very nervous. They looked better in the second half, even having a goal disallowed. But now they must fight with their backs against the wall in Paris, which is expected to offer a fearsome atmosphere to any European teams.
As the game approaches, here is everything you need to know about both sides ahead of kick-off.
Here is everything you need to know in order to watch PSG vs Arsenal via television and live streaming platforms.
TV Channel
You will be able to watch this match on Wednesday on the TNT Sports TV Channel, and the highlights are available to watch on TNT Sports YouTube Channel.
PSG Predicted Lineup (4-3-3): Donnarumma; Mendes, Pacho, Marquinhos, Hakimi; Ruiz, Vitinha, Neves; Kvaratskhelia, Ramos, Doue.
Good news, Arsenal fans- the French champions have confirmed Ousmane Dembele is a doubt for the second leg, after he picked up a hamstring injury a week ago in London.
PSG come into this match in mixed form, having won two and lost two. Their draw was away in Nantes, with two wins- one against Le Havre and the other being the most crucial 1-0 victory at the Emirates Stadium. After going 30 matches without defeat in the league, they have now suffered back-to-back losses against Nice and Strasbourg. However, their loss to Strasbourg came when they were resting 10 players for the second leg on Wednesday.
With Dembele missing, Kvaratskhelia will step up. We saw in the first leg, the Georgian and Jurrien Timber having an excellent battle down the left side. Kvaratskhelia definitely got the better of Timber, with the Dutch defender making four fouls throughout. Hakimi and Mendes will also look to have a impact down the flanks. We saw in the second leg against Villa, both scored early when Villa were attacking for a goal back, and the same could happen here.
Arsenal Predicted Lineup (4-3-3): Raya; Lewis-Skelly, Saliba, Kiwior, Timber; Rice, Partey, Odegaard; Martinelli, Merino, Saka.
Thomas Partey will be available for the second leg. Meanwhile, the visitors will continue to miss Kai Havertz, Jorginho, Gabriel Jesus, and Riccardo Calafiori thorugh injuries.
The reds have lost their last two coming into this- the first leg at home and also another home to Bournemouth, as they continue to falter to lock in second place in the league. Before this, their previous three were a 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace, a 4-0 win over Ipswich, and their second leg victory at the Bernabeu 2-1.
Arsenal’s big stars will really need to step up in this match if they are to make their first Champions League final appearance since 2006. Bukayo Saka will be the likely difference maker as he is also on penalties. Martinelli could also play an important role off the left wing, but getting past PSG’s two full backs will be a tough task for Arsenal.
Tuesday night was PSG’s first victory over Arsenal, with two draws and two Arsenal victories, with one being in the league phase of this competition. All games are Champions League unless specified otherwise.
