As the regular season at club level comes to an end (for most around the globe, anyway), international football has reared it's head to provide us with some minor viewing salvation, just before we are plunged back into a summer of transfers and waiting for the action to re-commence.
It's the UEFA Nations League we will be looking at today, as Germany look to take on inaugral winners Portugal.
Predicted Starting Lineup: ter Stegen, Kimmich, Tah, Anton, Mittelstadt, Gross, Goretzka, Sane, Adeyemi, Wirtz, Undav
After suffering hometown heartbreak in their hosting role of Euro 2024, Germany will be hoping that they can spur on in this international stage, though it's significance may not capture attention the same as the other trophies on offer.
They are the favourites going into this clash, with their high-profile squad favoured to make the difference against Portugal. However, a Ronaldo-led Portugal would love nothing more than to reclaim the title that they were the first-ever winners of, so Die Mannschaft will have to keep steadfast to sign their seasons off with a win.
In terms of medical news, Germany are struggling big time. Jonathan Burkardt, the top German scorer in the Bundesliga last season with 18, dropped out of the squad with an injury, as has young defender Yann-Aurel Bisseck, who was injured for Inter in their heavy Champions League final defeat to PSG.
Nadiem Amiri also dropped out of the squad over the last days, complaining of an issue in the side of his body that has seen him withdraw from duty.
Predicted Starting Lineup: Costa, Dalot, A.Silva, Dias, Mendes, Neves, Vitinha, B.Silva, Fernandes, Leao, Ronaldo
It's been a successful season for some in the Portugal squad, amongst them Champions League winners and title winners galore, but they aren't the favourites for this German clash.
However, at our own cost, we have written Portugal off before, and their fighting spirit, synonymous with one Cristiano Ronaldo, has seen them win the UEFA Nations League in it's inaugural campaign.
They would love to pick the trophy back up, making it to the final four for the first time since the year they won it, 2019, and will throw plenty of heat towards the cool and calculated Germany.
In terms of fitness, Portugal have had no issues going up to this match.
UK viewers can watch this contest on Amazon Prime Video. Kick-off, on Wednesday the 4th of June, is at 8pm.
Germany have a lot of quality in their ranks and will be hoping to restore some good omens after their disappointing end to Euro 2024. This is their first time in the final four of this competition, and we see them making good on that by dispatching Portugal on Wednesday night.
You can get odds on Germany to win over at Ladbrokes at 1.85, meaning a £10 stake returns £18.50.
Portugal will have plenty of fight within them, and their defence is one of their stronger points, but all signs point toward a clean and calculaed German success. We are going for a 2-0 win for them.
