This first international break of the 2025/26 season provides us with the final two fixtures of the World Cup Qualifying campaign in the continent of South America. Brazil have already qualified for the 2026 World Cup finals despite their chaotic campaign. Carlo Ancelotti will be taking charge in his third and fourth matches for the Selecão here, and on Friday they will be hosting the side dead last, competing on the western side of the continent, as they take on Chile.
Key Betting Tip: Brazil to Win at 1.16 odds on Kwiff represents excellent value based on the tip provided by our algorithm.
Brazil Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Alisson Becker; Vanderson, Marquinhos, Gabriel Magalhães, Caio Henrique; Bruno Guimarães, Casemiro; Raphinha, João Pedro, Estêvão Willian; Richarlison.
With new coach ‘Carletto’ now at the helm, he is of course still looking to find the right team who play in his style and system well, with these matches their last two competitive ones before the World Cup finals next summer. This predicted XI is chosen more on current form for their sides.
Chile Predicted XI (4-3-3): Thomas Gillier; Fabian Hormazabal, Guillermo Maripan, Benjamin Kuscevic, Gabriel Suazo; Dario Osorio, Rodrigo Echeverria, Felipe Loyola; Gonzalo Tapia, Ben Brereton Diaz, Alexander Aravena.
The Chileans also have a new coach, with Nicolas Cordova taking charge of their final two matches in this qualifying campaign – both of which seem like dead rubbers for this side who can’t qualify anyway.
Selecão are still ranked fifth in the FIFA World Rankings despite their shocking campaign so far. They have lost almost a third of their matches (5/16), winning less than 50% of them too (7/16). It has been a tough campaign for the Brazilians, however, these two matches they can express themselves fully, having already secured qualification. They do head into the fixture in good form too, losing just one of their last eight.
Chile, meanwhile, can no longer secure qualification to the US next summer, marking their third consecutive failure to qualify for the World Cup. Furthermore, there is a good chance the Chileans don’t even get off the foot of the table, having had a shocking campaign, with Brazil and Uruguay still to play.
The last five meetings between these sides when it has come to World Cup qualification has been a horror show for Chile. Although they have won one, the overall aggregate in the last four matches (strictly the last four in WC Qualifying) goes 10-1 in favour of the Selecão. Overall head-to-head isn’t good reading for Chile either, with the last 11 meetings going eight games to one in favour of Brazil.
Recent Head-to-Head Results:
The last meeting fell back in October last year in the third match of the World Cup Qualifying section, with Selecão stealing all three points for Brazil. Despite an early goal from Eduardo Vargas, gaols from Igor Jesus and super-sub Luiz Henrique stole the share of the spoils in the dying moments.
Brazil Last 5 Matches:
Selecão’s defensive lines are yet to be breached under Ancelotti’s reign, with Brazil seemingly focusing primarily on building a compact defence, given they have conceded the most goals of any team currently in the top six. They have also scored the second most of any team, however, so will rely on their firepower up top to overhaul Chile this Friday.
Chile Last 5 Matches:
Following on from their 4-2 win over Venezuela and 6-1 victory against Panama, the Chileans have failed to score in the last four competitive fixtures. They have only conceded four, but what remains is their abysmal 0.56 goals per game – something which is not a good omen heading into an away match against Brazil.

Football Park’s Best Bet: Brazil to Win @ 1.16 - Recent form suggests confidence in a comfortable Brazil win. Chile will want to quickly forget this horror show of a qualifying campaign, meanwhile, Brazil will want to make a statement under their new coach as contenders to win their first World Cup since 2002 and should win pretty comfortably to nil.
Richarlison (Tottenham/Brazil): Richarlison is expected to lead the line for this match on Friday, and he has had an excellent start to the season domestically for Spurs. His two goals and assist enabled Tottenham to be one of just three sides with a 100% record after the opening two fixtures, and he is in red-hot form coming into the break.
Rodrigo Echeverria (Club Léon/Chile): It is difficult to choose a key player for Chile given their remarkably awful campaign, but Echeverria has had a good patch of form for Léon in central midfield. Not on the scoresheet for any goal involvements, but he offers a lot of value in the middle of the park, winning tackles, interceptions and duels, and also getting the ball forward an up the pitch, starting important plays for his side.
