Wales opening international fixture and World Cup qualifier of the summer is effectively a walkover - the Dragon’s, ranked 29th in the FIFA rankings, host Liechtenstein, a nation with a population of just under 40 '000, and a side who rank 205th in the same standings, sitting above five nations.
Liechtenstein have won just one game since 2020, a 1-0 win over Hong Kong, and as a nation, compete in qualifiers more out of formality than out of any hope of making the cut.
Wales, who are undefeated since last summer, should not encounter any problems here, and if anything, should approach it as an opportunity to experiment with different players and approaches, building experience ahead of more challenging qualification games.
As the game approaches, here is everything you need to know about both sides ahead of kick-off.
This game will be shown on BBC iPlayer and BBC One Wales, with kick-off scheduled for 19:45 on Friday.
Wales Predicted Lineup (5-4-1): Karl Darlow (GK); Neco Williams, Ben Davies, Joe Rodon, Chris Mepham, Connor Roberts; Daniel James, Ethan Ampadu, Josh Sheehan, Brennan Johnson; Kieffer Moore.
Though the team are in some of the best form that the majority of their fans will remember, Wales were somewhat disappointing last time out, forced to net a 90+6 equaliser against a Kazakhstan side ranked over 80 places below them in the rankings.
It means that Wales have drawn four of their last eight, a run which, while it protects their undefeated streak, is not the most efficient way to pick up points and qualify for major tournaments.
However, with the domestic season now over, the squad won’t have the distractions of league and cup competitions this time round, meaning they can shift all of their focus onto the task at hand. With a talented squad, which includes Europa League winners Ben Davies and Brennan Johnson, Wales should coast to a win here.
Liechtenstein Predicted Lineup (3-5-2): Benjamin Buchel (GK); Felix Oberwaditzer, Sandro Wieser, Lars Traber; Jens Hofer, Aron Sele, Nicolas Hasler, Simon Luchinger, Kenny Kindle; Dennis Salanovic, Willy Pizzi.
At this point, feeling sorry for Liechtenstein is the only acceptable emotion. The fact they are forced to compete in major competition qualifiers almost seems cruel, as their fate is sealed before they even start their campaign.
Even in the fourth tier of Nation’s League competition, Liechtenstein struggled to compete - this year, they finished below Gibraltar and San Marino, both countries who have an even smaller population.
Now, placed in a group with Kazakhstan, Belgium, North Macedonia, and of course Wales, Liechtenstein are a tiny fish in a huge pond, and will do well to save face in any of their remaining games. If they can come away with some respectability, then it would be considered a successful campaign.
Recent Meetings:
Though their win over Hong Kong in October was certainly a step in the right direction, Liechtenstein must remember that their opponents were still only ranked 153rd in the world - playing Wales, who occupy a spot in the top 30, the challenge for Liechtenstein will be a totally different one.
That is why our experts have decided that the best tip for this fixture is to back Wales to win. Odds of 1.015 on Highbet mean that a £10 bet would return £10.15. This tip is best used in an acca or multi-bet.
Wales 3-0 Liechtenstein
Though Liechtenstein will still be roundly beaten, the margin of victory will be narrower than many expect, emphasising that they are headed in the right direction as a footballing nation.
