From last-minute levellers to convincing victories elsewhere, yesterday's Championship action had it all and we are going to review the key talking points now all is said and done.
It's becoming almost inevitable that Coventry are going to add three points to their tally week in, week out but the Sky Blues were made to work for it at The Riverside Stadium. This one had it all. Huge chances squandered, remarkable saves and a peach of a curled effort into the top corner. Coventry found themselves two up in 15 minutes and any excuse to show the goal by Ellis Simms that opened the scoring.
Gets better every time you watch it! 😍

The home side fought back to level terms early in the second half, courtesy of a composed finish by Coventry defender Bobby Thomas (shame it was the wrong net). After all, they are the league leaders so it was no surprise to see Coventry come again and two late goals ensured that it would be a tenth victory in 11 league matches, a club record. If that wasn't enough, Frank Lampard's side have now scored 25 goals on the road in nine matches, the second highest being Southampton with 16. At this rate, it won't be long before the bookies start paying out league winner bets.
Southampton and Leicester, a fixture that many would anticipate but this was over as a spectacle before it really began. The home side cruised to a 3-0 victory after The Foxes were reduced to 10 men mid-way into the first half. Taylor Harwood-Bellis at the double tells you all you need to know about this one and the Saints media team certainly enjoyed themselves after the game

Victory for the hosts makes it four wins and four losses, and many are calling for former U21 manager Tonda Eckert to be offered the job on a permanent basis. It seems as though fans have quickly forgotten the Will Still tenure and it may be back to the drawing board, or the football manager save in this case, for the Belgian.
As for Leicester, six wins in 17 league games is not something that you would associate with a side expected to be fighting for the league title. An attack that lacks the firepower we are so used to seeing in recent years and an inability to defend set pieces does bring slight concern for Marti Cifuentes' side.
Mark Robins is doing a magnificent job at Stoke City; a side creeping closer and closer to the relegation places in recent years now sits second in the league and is putting teams to the sword, as Charlton was next to find out. Are we really surprised? Robins had Coventry City consistently in the playoff picture and was hugely unfortunate to not take his former side to the Premier League. Now, he is proving his worth once again in the Championship and led his side to a 3-0 victory yesterday evening against Nathan Jones' Charlton.
The London side have had a harsh reality check in recent matches, losing three on the bounce and conceding nine goals to one scored. After the scrutiny he received on the weekend by the Saints faithful, you would've thought Jones would have had his players fired up for this one. Instead, we are treated to another post-match ramble by the Welshman. At least the fans are seeing the funny side of things.

Two minutes of stoppage time on the clock, the first home win of the season in touching distance, Norwich City fans have become all too familiar with how this story ends. The Canaries' troubles continue, extending the streak to 13 games without a win after Oxford United equalised late on to add salt to the wound.
Fans' frustrations are growing with club sporting director Ben Knapper, being the architect of the Liam Manning appointment that turned out to be nothing but disastrous. There are also growing concerns that striker Josh Sargent will want out in the January transfer window, having hit double figures for the club in three consecutive seasons. Norwich sit 23rd in the league table, only above Sheffield Wednesday.
As for Swansea City, manager Vitor Matos' first game in charge ended in defeat against Derby County. Swansea fans have shown excitement about his appointment and you can find out more information as to why here but there is clearly a lot of work to be done; they have now lost four straight league matches.
Many fans expressed concerns about the lineup ahead of the game and it proved for good reason, as defensive vulnerabilities continued to haunt the Swans. Midfielder Ethan Galbraith gave the home side late hope but it was too little too late for the Welsh side, who sit just four points above the relegation places.
