As the Premier League looks ahead towards the new 2026/27 campagin, many clubs throughout the league prepare for life with a new face in the dugouts hot seat. And whilst some may be familiar to the English top flight, some are venturing into the Premier League for the first time.

With that in mind, who are these new faces and what are they like as managers?

Marco Rose: AFC Bournemouth

Andoni Iraola worked wonders on the south coast at Bournemouth, guiding the club to sixth place during the 25/26 season and qualifying the Cherries to European football for the first time in the club's history.

And whilst the Basque-born coach has departed to feel the void at Anfield left by Arne Slot, Marco Rose is the coach chosen to lead Bournemouth into the UEFA Europa League.

The 49 year-old German coach began his managerial career at Lokomotive Leipzig, however left the club after just one season in 2013. From there, he joined Red Bull Salzburg as the coach of their U16's side, before succeding Thomas Letsch as the U18's manager in the 2013/14 season.

In 2017, Rose became the head coach of Salzburg's first team, and won the Austrian top flight title in his first season, as well as reaching the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa League, before retaining the title during the following season, with Rose maintaing an unbeaten home record during his two years in charge.

Rose's form at Salzburg attracted Bundesliga side Borussia Mönchengladbach, who Rose led to fourth place in the 2019/20 season and qualified for the UEFA Champions League, as he continued to grow his reputation as one of the brightest young coaches in Europe.

Despite his relative young age in coaching terms, Rose is experienced at the top level, having coached some of the biggest clubs in Germany on Europe's biggest stage, and at Bournemouth, will have a talented young squad at his disposal.

Borussia Dortmund would come calling in February 2021, however Rose only lasted one year before leaving and later joining RB Leipzig, who he led to winning the DfB-Pokal in 2023.

Displaying a preference to play a narrow system, with primarily a 4-4-2 diamond, Rose likes his team to press high and force turnovers deep into the opposition half, working hard off the ball to force his opponents into errors.

Xabi Alonso: Chelsea

Perhaps the most highly anticipated managerial debut at a new club not just in the Premier League but across Europe, Xabi Alonso to Chelsea was one not many could have predicted when he was preparing to take on the job at Real Madrid this time last year.

Alonso burst onto the managerial scene as one of Europe's best young coaching minds at Bayer Leverkusen, as he led the club to an incredible and unprecedented season during the 2023/24 campagin, as Leverkusen won the Bundesliga title for the first time ever, doing it unbeaten, whilst also completing the domestic double by winning the DfB-Pokal.

Following that a move to the Santiago Bernabeu was established, however it just didn't work out for Alonso at Real Madrid during his brief spell in charge, with a 3-2 loss to Barcelona in the final of the Supercopa de Espanã in January sealing his fate after alledibly having disputes with some of the squad's most high-profile names.

And now, Alonso will test his managiral skills back in England. Alonso is, of course, no stranger to the Premier League after making over 150 appearnces for Liverpool between 2004 and 2009, but will now take to the dugout at Stamford Bridge.

His teams look to dominate possession and control the play with patient build-up in deeper areas of the pitch, whilst also looking to counter-attack with pace. It remains to be seen whether Alonso will set up with the 3-4-2-1 system which was so successful at Leverkusen, but with Morgan Rogers signed for a club record fee, the Englishman could be set to partner Cole Palmer as duel attacking midfielder's behind a central striker.

Pierre Sage: Crystal Palace

Just like Iraola at Bournemouth, Oliver Glasner at Crystal Palace oversaw the greatest period in the club's history despite only being at the helm two and a half years, having won the club's first major trophy with the FA Cup in 2025 and following it up with the UEFA Conference League the following year.

But now, with Glasner moving on from Selhurst Park, Frenchman Pierre Sage has been chosen to replace the Austrian.

The 47 year-old joins from RC Lens, where he led the club to second place behind PSG in the 25/26 Ligue 1 campagin, as well as winning the Coupe de France for the first time in the club's history.

Before Lens, Sage was head coach of Lyon, where he was orginally the manager of the club's academy before becoming the permanent manager after a successful spell of interim which saw Sage guide Lyon qualify for the UEFA Europa League and led the club to the Coupe de France final in the second half of the 2023/24 season.

Favouring a structured pressing and possession style, Sage mainly used a back four formation at Lens, which is different to the 3-4-2-1 mainly used by Glasner at Selhurst Park. Making an interesting switch up in system's if Sage decides to stick with what played out successfully at Lens.

Alvaro Arbeloa: Fullham

Just like Alonso, Alvaro Arbeola joins the Premier League as a new manager after a brief spell in charge of Real Madrid, in which Arbeola took over from his former teammate following his dismissal halfway through the campagin.

However, Arbeloa failed to bring success to Madrid after being trusted with leading them until the end of the 25/26 season, with Jose Mourinho being chosen as the permanent manager of the Bernabeu club. Despite that, Arbeloa has gone on to continue his journey as a senior side manager, joining Fulham after the departure of Marco Silva.

Arbeloa is new to the managerial game at senior level, having been a coach amongst Real Madrid's youth sides until being given the promotion to the first-team in January.

And so far Arbeloa has been keen to bring in some familiar faces with him to West London, with Gonzalo Garcia and Cesar Palacios, two players Arbeloa worked with in the Real academy, joining Fulham for a combined £42 million this summer.

Like many Spanish coaches, Arbeloa's focus is to maintain the ball and control the possession as much as possible. Alongside on-pitch tactics, the Spaniard is said to put a strong focus towards man-management and motivation, helping to build success through psychology as well as tactical analysis.

Sergei Jakirovic: Hull City

A name that will not be familiar to viewers of the Premier League, and a name that was not familiar to Hull City fans prior to his appointment, but they certainly know who he is now.

Sergei Jakirovic is a 49 year-old Bosnian coach who joined the Tigers in 2025 after brief spells in charge of Kayserispor in Türkiye and Dinamo Zagreb in Croatia.

Despite being a relative unknown to English football fans, it didn't take long for Jakirovic to win the hearts of Hull City supporters, as the Bosnian guided the club to an unlikely place in the EFL Championship final, where they faced Middlesbrough after original semi-final victors Southampton were disqualified.

The north-east side may have been the favourites to reach the Premier League at Wembley, but it was Jakirovic's defensively strong Tigers who won the spot in the top flight of English football, through a late winner by striker Oli Mcburnie.

Hull last season were built off a strong, compact defence as well as being clinical and quick on the counter-attack, and they'll need more of that this season as they face an uphill battle to survive in the Premier League.

Matthias Jaissle: Newcastle Utd

The newest new face set to begin life in the Premier League, Eddie Howe's abrupt departure from Newcastle Utd took many by surprise, but the Magpies have seemingly moved quickly to secure his replacement, in the form of 38 year-old German Matthias Jaissle.

Newcastle have not yet officially confirmed the arrival of Jaissle, however the Al Ahli coach is set to join up with his new players at the club's Spain training camp, where he begins work after a successful spell at the Saudi Arabian club.

At Al Ahi, Jaissle won the AFC Champions League twice in three seasons, as well as claiming a Saudi Super Cup at the club, his success in the Middle East follows two Austrian Bundesliga titles at RB Salzburg.

A coach that wants a high-pressing, strong intensity style from his players who always look to play on the front foot, Jaissele's preferred style of play alongside his passion on the touchline could easily endear himself to Toon supporters. But Jaissle faces a strong challenge to get off to a strong start on Tynside, with multple key players being seen out the door at St. James Park with captain Bruno Guimaires set to be the latest as he closes in on a move to Premier League Champions Arsenal.
