Napoli Explore Three Premier League Stars: Who Would Be The Best Fit?
Having won their second Serie A title in the last three seasons, Napoli have found success by shopping in the Premier League as of late.
The likes of Scott McTominay, Romelu Lukaku, Frank Zambo-Anguissa, Billy Gilmour and Phillip Billing have proven to be a success in Naples. With the departure of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in January to Paris Saint-Germain, Napoli are looking to the Premier League once again to try and fill the void this summer.
With that being said, we look at the three reported targets for the Italian side and how they’d potentially fit in Antonio Conte’s system.
Jack Grealish’s exit has been all but confirmed by Manchester City, having been left out of the FIFA Club World Cup squad.
Grealish signed for the Citizens in 2021 for a British record fee of £100 million from Aston Villa.
While numbers haven’t been on his side registering just 17 goals in 157 appearances, the former captain of The Villains has made an impact during his time in Manchester.

Grealish would have a key role in Manchester City completing the treble during the 2022/23 season - winning the UEFA Champions League, Premier League and FA Cup.
Despite the success of the 2022/23 campaign, a combination of injuries and the emergence of Jeremy Doku and Omar Marmoush has seen the 29-year old fall down the pecking order.
“Jack, exceptional player… he has to play. In the last two seasons he didn't play much, and he has to come back to play, have the butterflies in his stomach that he can play every three days and show again the quality he has” said Pep Guardiola.
If Grealish was to make a move to Napoli, he would most likely play off the left-hand side in Antonio Conte’s favoured 4-3-3 formation.
Antonio Conte could also opt to use the Englishman in central midfield. However, the addition of Kevin De Bruyne makes this option less likely due to the lack of defensive cover in a midfield that would consist of De Bruyne, Grealish and McTominay.
Jadon Sancho has struggled to find a home since leaving Borussia Dortmund for Manchester United in 2021.
Once one of the most promising young players in Europe, Sancho’s high profile £73 million move to the Red Devils has seen his stock plummet over recent years.
Having registered just 12 goals across four seasons with Manchester United, Sancho has failed to represent England at an international level since 2021.
🚨 Manchester United will give priority to selling Jadon Sancho on permanent deal before opening doors to loans.

His performances in Manchester have led to two consecutive loan deals away from the club - a return to Borussia Dortmund in 2024 and a spell in London with Chelsea, most recently.
Sancho found relative success during both loan spells, reaching the UEFA Champions League final with Borussia Dortmund and winning the UEFA Conference League with Chelsea. However, the Englishman was unable to secure permanent transfers with either club, with Chelsea even opting to pay Manchester United a penalty fee just so they didn't have to sign him permanently. Ouch.
Naturally a winger, Sancho would have to compete for the left-wing position at Napoli.
Having been known for his ability to create for his teammates and drive at opposition defenders, Sancho could be a good fit for Antonio Conte’s side.
With Romelu Lukaku and Scott McTominay as goal threats, the addition of Sancho alongside De Bruyne could create more opportunities for both players to continue upping their numbers.
Another expected departure from Manchester United is 20-year old Alejandro Garnacho.
The Argentina international broke through at Manchester United during the 2022-23 season, making his senior debut at 18-years old in April 2022.
Garnacho had impressed at under-18 and 21 level winning the Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year award.
Garnacho has gone on to make 144 appearances since his debut, scoring 26 goals - including the opener in Manchester United’s 2-1 FA Cup final victory against Manchester City in 2024.
Since the appointment of Ruben Amorim, Garnacho has found himself on the sidelines for the majority of fixtures.
The Argentine winger would create speculation regarding his future after United’s 1-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Europa League final;
“Until the final, I played every round helping the team… then the final arrives and I play 20 minutes?! I don’t know”. “The final, the season, the whole situation of the club… I will try to enjoy the summer and then we will see what happens.”

While Garnacho’s priority is to stay in the Premier League, Napoli have thrown their name into the mix for the young winger.
At just 20-years old, Garnacho has accomplished more than many players his age, winning the FA Cup, Carabao Cup and representing Argentina on eight occasions.
If Napoli were able to get the signing done, they would be hoping for the Argentine winger to contribute immediately while continuing to develop into a world-class talent.
Garnacho’s ability to create opportunities for himself adds another layer to Napoli’s attack. His speed also makes him a fit within the current system, which relies on attackers making runs into channels and creating space while midfielders make third-man runs.
