It's a fixture that carries permutations on both the foot and near-summit of the Premier League table, and one that carries that slight extra edge of West Midlands needle. Wolverhampton Wanderers are playing hosts to Aston Villa in English top-flight action tonight, with Wolves preparing for life in the EFL Championship and the Villains eyeing up a return to Champions League football.
With one side looking to go down fighting and with another staying with everything to play for, we've compiled everything you need to know for this evening as Wolves take on Aston Villa.
For a team rooted to the very foot of the Premier League table, battling maybe only to try and avoid beating Derby County's record of being the worst side in the competition's history, they have had a couple of positive performances at times this term. They come into this one off the back of a slim 1-0 loss to Crystal Palace, who stole the points thanks to a late Evann Guessand effort at Selhurst Park.
The last time they played at Molineux, on the 18th of February, they managed to hold league-leading Arsenal to a thrilling 2-2 draw. However, the Old Gold side have only managed one single win all term long, which says all you need to know as they surely make their way down a division for next season.

From 28 affairs, Wolves hold one win, seven draws and 20 defeats to accumulate a tally of 10 points that leaves them at the very bottom of the table, 17 points away from safety in 17th, a spot currently held by Nottingham Forest. In short, only a miracle will see them survive and retain their top-flight status.
Goals have been at a premium for Wolves, with just 18 in their last 28, but there have been signs of improvement in this area with three coming from their last four fixtures.
Against Aston Villa, Wolves have been the victor in four of their last six home clashes against them and have not lost on their own patch against the Villains since a 1-0 defeat back in December 2020.
On the other hand, Villa are coming into this one in the wake of a 1-1 draw with Leeds United. Unai Emery and his side were inches away from suffering a damage shock defeat on home soil, but Tammy Abraham came to their rescue in the 88th minute of play.
Villa's recent form has been patchy and has perhaps raised worries over their top-four aspirations for the season - they have won just one from their last five in all competitions, and one from four in the Premier League itself.

They are still third, mind you, but only three points ahead of Manchester United in fourth and six ahead of Chelsea in fifth and Liverpool in sixth, so they will need to find that consistency they showed earlier in the season soon before their 'Big Six' rivals can interrupt their hopes of playing in the Champions League next term.
They do boast the third-best away record in the Premier League this season, hoisting 22 points from their 13 trips, and are coming head-to-head with a Wolves team holding the worst home record in the division.
Villa will be attempting to complete a domestic double over Wolves for the first time since 2004, and a win is of the upmost importance for Emery's men when taking into account their next two league games - aforementioned table-neighbours Chelsea and Manchester United.
Predicted Starting XI: Sa; Mosquera, S. Bueno, Toti; Tchatchoua, Bellegarde, Andre, H. Bueno; A. Gomes, Armstrong, Mane
Wolves will remain without the chance to play South Korean forward Hwang Hee-Chan, who stays out with a calf issues, and Ladislav Krejci's red card against Palace means he will be out of action for this bout. This likely opens the door for Toti to take the Czechian's place tonight.
Angel Gomes may step into the team in a more advanced position than normal, whilst the transfer target of many major clubs, Mateus Mane, will also stay in the side - he's been a rare positive for Wolves this season.
Predicted Starting XI: Martinez; Cash, Konsa, Mings, Maatsen; Onana, Luiz; Bailey, Rogers, Buendia; Watkins
As for Aston Villa, Youri Tielemans, John McGinn, Boubacar Kamara and Harvey Elliott will all remain absent, whereas teenage winter arrival Alysson is a big doubt thanks to a recent knock.
Tammy Abraham has been in the goals since his return to Villa Park from Besiktas in January, but Ollie Watkins will most likely stay in-post as the starting centre-forward at Molineux.
Ross Barkley and Jadon Sancho were amongst the names leaving positive substitute impressions against Leeds, but a start for either man remains unlikely with Leon Bailey set to start down the right-most flank.
This may be a tougher game to call than immediately thought first - Wolves are struggling, sure, but hold signs of life and an impressive home record against Aston Villa. On the other hand, Aston Villa hold immediate quality and will be taking this game uber-seriously with tough tasks ahead of them in the form of Chelsea and Manchester United. We think Unai Emery will have a win to boast tonight, but Rob Edwards and co won't make it easy for them.
