Due to what was a gripping first round of the FA Cup, it was only the Championship who represented the English Football League over the weekend. Nevertheless, there were some thrilling games in the second tier and plenty of goals scored.
39 to be exact, scored amongst just 12 games to average over three goals a game. But whilst the sheer quantity of goals was impressive, we will be highlighting the quality, by labelling the five best from over the weekend.
Without further ado and in no particular order, here are the goals…
Ipswich Town have found their rhythm in the Championship; after a string of two wins and a 4-1 triumph in West London on Saturday, the Tractor Boys look ready for a playoff surge.
One man in particular who has bolstered the Town midfield is newcomer Marcelino Nunez - a player who all Norwich fans label a snake after his forbidden move across East Anglia in the summer.
Serpent or not, his free kicks against Queens Park Rangers over the weekend certainly had some venom behind them, hence his placement on this list. The Chilean bagged a brace of set-pieces on the day, each warranting a spot on the list and ultimately, the better of the two is purely down to preference.

From similar positions, Nunez managed to ripple alternate corners of Paul Nardi’s goal, hitting them hard and low to set the Suffolk side on their way to three points.
Captain Cameron - captain fantastic. The Oxford skipper replicated another trademark long-range goal at the weekend, as he levelled the affair against high-flying Millwall on 45 minutes.
The ball trickled to him on the edge of the box and with no hesitation, the Liverpool academy graduate wrapped a curling effort right into the top left corner to collect his fourth of the season.

Despite a Millwall second goal, the U’s managed to battle through the remainder of the game to eventually find a 96th minute equaliser, courtesy of a man who may just appear on this list as well…
The point has helped Gary Rowett’s men to regain ground on the bottom three, extending their gap to four points.
Here he is; the super-sub that saved the day. The Pole’s last-minute goal wasn't just a free-for-all in the box either, it was a strike delicate enough to match his captain’s beauty earlier in the game.
Płacheta was lurking on the edge of the box, ready to receive a deflected Siriki Dembele cross attempt. From then, the winger’s instincts prevailed; a sharp lash at the ball saw it rifle directly into the bottom right corner, creeping past Millwall’s Max Crocombe in net.

The former Norwich City man had only found the net once this season prior to Saturday’s game-changing moment, but his late arrival will have certainly helped his bid to be in the starting lineup for next game.
Stoke City vs Bristol City’s 5-1 thriller was the highest scoring match from the EFL this weekend; it was bound to feature some stunners.
Junior Tchamadeu’s solo effort was the pick of the bunch for the Potters, the full-back drove the ball from his own half to then scurry past three opposition defenders before reaching the Robins’ danger area. Tchamadeu then eyed up the goalkeeper and slotted it into his left-hand corner with aplomb.

The emphatic victory over their playoff rivals moved Stoke to within just one point of the automatic promotion spots, and having both Coventry and Middlesbrough fall to defeats capped off a tremendous weekend for the Staffordshire outfit.
Rocket would be the only correct term to describe Mamadou Doumbia’s goal against promotion chasing Middlesbrough.
Watford had already built themselves a 2-0 advantage heading into the half-time interval, which only allowed their exciting, young team to express themselves in the second period.
Doumbia did exactly that; just four minutes after jogging back out of the tunnel, the 19-year-old hit potentially what was the sweetest strike of his career so far. The forward cut inside on his left foot and slammed one into the top left corner to claim his side a 3-0 win.
A brilliant strike, but was it his goal? 👀#EFL | #SkyBetChampionship pic.twitter.com/EtHPi5pAZ8

The Hornets now close in on the playoffs by just four points, in hopes of resurrecting the inconsistent form that has pursued in Hertfordshire. However, with tricky fixtures ahead, they will certainly need to be on their A-game.
