Three Possible Replacements for Trent Alexander-Arnold?
As Trent Alexander-Arnold looks set to join Real Madrid in the summer window on a free transfer, it is now time for Liverpool to start looking for his replacement. With Alexander-Arnold a rare and unique player for his points, the Reds will have to find a creative right-back that can always adequately defend to fill the large boots of their former ‘scouser’ in their team.
But, looking towards the summer window, who could come through the door at Anfield? Here are three players that could replace Trent Alexander-Arnold at Liverpool.

Replacing Alexander-Arnold is always going to costly task, but Liverpool could have one of their own – ready to step up. Conor Bradley has played second fiddle behind the Englishman since making his debut in the 2021/22 season, with the Northern Irishman impressing whenever on the pitch. Bradley broke into the team in 2024, making his Premier League debut in January before starting the Carabao Cup final. Despite Alexander-Arnold being at the club, Bradley currently has a case for being the best right-back at the club – pace, dynamism, and energy is the Northern Ireland international’s game. While the young defender can also put in a tackle to excite the Anfield crowd. The only downside to Bradley’s game is the 21-year-old’s poor injury record. Last season, during his break-through season at the club, Bradley appeared 23 times, with 11 of those in the English top flight. At face value, you would believe that this is due to Alexander-Arnold prominence and grip on the starting spot. However, the Northern Ireland international had several injuries that kept him out for large parts of the season, picking up both a back and an ankle injury. Bradley would be a great option for Liverpool to fill their starting squad, but to get the best out of him and cover any potential injury problems - an additional right defender might be needed.
Jeremie Frimpong is a modern-day attacking full-back. Many people described Alexander-Arnold in a similar light, but the Bayer Leverkusen defender would be a perfect signing to fill Liverpool’s void at right-back. A smaller figure but a capturing character, Frimpong is a bundle of energy, with the 24-year-old announcing his name to the world last season. As Bayer Leverkusen lifted the Bundesliga title in the 2023/24 season, Frimpong recorded nine goals and seven assists. Now, in 27 Bundesliga appearances this season, the Dutchman has scored four goals and provided five assists for the reigning German league champions. Compared to other full-backs, Frimpong sits above 87% for chances created, shot attempts, and goals. Per 90, the Leverkusen defender averages 1.15 chances created, 4.78 touches in the opposition box, 3.97 duels won, and 3.49 recoveries. Frimpong might not be the answer if Liverpool are looking for an out-and-out defender. However, due to being involved in international duty with Virgil van Dijk, Frimpong may offer a dynamic Dutch due on the right – the full-back driving forwards, with van Dijk covering his tracks and supporting him when needed in his defensive duties.
🚨 Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong is reportedly "on the verge" of agreeing a move to Liverpool.

Tino Livramento is a player that Liverpool will be very familiar with, following the Carabao Cup final, after Livramento impressively defended Mohamed Salah. At the age of 22, Livramento has had a rapid rise in the Premier League in recent years, having his breakout season at Southampton in the 2021/22 season before moving to Newcastle United in 2023. The Cobham graduate has been a constant in Eddie Howe’s team since joining, offering his services either as a right or left full-back. Despite recording one goal and one assist in 70 games, Livramento is a complete full-back who can do a bit of everything. Per 90, the right-back averages 0.60 chances created, 0.74 successful dribbles, 36.8 successful passes, 4.63 duels won, and 6.35 recoveries. Depending on Slot’s system and preferences, Livramento may not be an upgrade on Bradley in an attacking sense, but he offers a different profile that is defensively strong, and at 22, he could be a perfect addition to rotate with and complement Bradley at right full-back.
