Who’s Getting Relegated from the EFL Championship? Odds, Bookies' Prices and Our Choices

As the 2025/26 season is coming to a close, it is time for teams to begin their fight for survival and try to pick up as many points as possible. As it stands, there are quite a few teams that would consider themselves at danger as we approach the month of March. We are going to look at the chances of each of these teams avoiding the drop and look at who the bookies are backing.

Which Teams are Most in Danger of Relegation?

Oxford United – 1/4 talkSport Bet

Oxford United are favourites to join Sheffield Wednesday in the third tier of English football next season and they find themselves priced at 1/4 by Talksport Bet. The U’s are currently sitting in 23rd place in the Championship table and are 6 points from safety. For a team with only one win from their last nine league outings, it is going to be hard for Matt Bloomfield’s side to claw back the gap and avoid the drop.

Leicester City – 6/4 William Hill

Leicester City are predicted to go down by William Hill, as they find themselves priced at 6/4 in the current market. The Foxes are currently without a manager since parting ways with Marti Cifuentes at the end of January, although it is looking likely that Gary Rowett will be the one to take the vacant position. Many would believe that with Leicester’s player quality they might avoid the dreaded drop; however, they showed in 2023 with relegation from the Premier League that there is no such thing as ‘too good to go down’.

Blackburn Rovers – 9/4 Highbet

Blackburn Rovers are currently sitting outside the drop zone in 20th place in the Championship table following a huge 3-1 away victory at Loftus Road against Queens Park Rangers at the weekend. It will give the fans some confidence, as it was the first game since the announcement of Michael O’Neill as manager, and they will be hoping that a new manager bounce can continue in future matches. Two seasons ago, Blackburn secured survival by beating Leicester City on the final day of the season. Could they repeat it this season, as they are yet again playing the Foxes on the final day?

Portsmouth – 5/2 Betfred

Following promotion from League One during the 2023/24 season, Portsmouth achieved the ultimate goal of survival in their first season back in the Championship. However, this season it looks as if they have a fight for survival on their hands again, with the side sitting four points above the relegation zone. The other night Pompey secured a huge victory over fellow struggler Charlton, which will certainly give them confidence going forward in this fight.

West Bromwich Albion – 3/1 10Sport

West Bromwich Albion for years have been knocking on the door for promotion back to the Premier League with multiple top-half finishes close to or in the playoff positions. So, to find themselves in a relegation battle wouldn’t have been expected prior to the season starting. However, this is the situation the Baggies find themselves in so they are going to need to fight to stay out of the relegation zone. Since the appointment of Eric Ramsay, results have begun to slightly improve at the Hawthornes with three draws in their last five games; however, they will be hoping these draws start turning into wins.

Charlton Athletic – 6/1 Boyle

Charlton Athletic certainly came up from League One as the weakest of the three squads, with Wrexham and Birmingham spending lots of money in transfer windows to try and push up the other end of the table. So, if all three were to stay up this season, that would be a fantastic achievement, especially for Charlton. If Charlton were to remain away from the drop zone, they will need to continue to be strong at home, as seven of their ten wins this season have come at The Valley.

Based on these odds from various bookmakers, the two teams that we predict to join Sheffield Wednesday in League One next season would be Oxford United and Leicester City.
