Egypt Manager Divorces One of Two Wives After Altercation

Egypt manager Hossam Hassan has found himself in the middle of a brawl between his two wives, which led to the 60-year-old coach collapsing.

He was involved in plenty of controversy at this summer's World Cup, most specifically when he and Egypt were knocked out at the Round of 16 by Argentina which led to his involvements in discussions over FIFA corruption, whilst famously throwing up the 'X' sign during the game.

Now, a little over a month on, he is back in the headlines though this time with his personal life in the firing line as his first and second wives get caught up in a fight.

Egypt Manager's Wives Battle as Footage Emerges of Fight

As first noted by talksSPORT, Howaida El-Gharbawy and Dina Mostafa, Hassan's first and second wives respectively, got into a bit of fisticuffs at a cafe in Porto Marina on Egypt's northern coast.

This argument very quickly turned physical as the two women fought, sustaining injuries each before passers-by separated the duo. Hassan also tried to split the two from their feud, but appeared to faint in his attempts.

Footage of the situation has now cropped up online, with one of the women being dragged away whilst the other was helped to her feet. Both suffered cuts and bruises in the footage which you can see now, below.

As a result of the shocking incident, Hassan has opted to divorce Howaida, his first wife. The pair have three children together and had previously separated in 2022 before resuming their marriage just over a week later. The 60-year-old football manager also married Dina in 2015.

In the aftermath of the shock incident, Hassan has divorced his first wife, Howaida. The pair have three children with each other and had previously separated four years ago, but continued their marriage after just a week apart. The Egypt boss had also married Dina in 2015.

Why Did Hossam Hassan Have Two Wives?

In Egyptian laws, a man can legally marry up to four different women at a time, so long as both his previous and future wives are informed of his intentions.

Following a divorce, men have no waiting periods to go through before they can marry once again, but Egypt have a law in place that prevents women from doing so for three months. As such, Hassan can get back on the dating apps at the drop of a hat, but Howaida has to wait at least 90 days before saying I do.

Following the defeat, he suggested there had been favouritism towards their South American opponents. More specifically, Lionel Messi.

This comes over a month after Hassan's passionate, angry response to Egypt's elimination from the World Cup, when he had to be dragged away down the tunnel of the Atlanta Stadium after raging over referee decisions that cost his nation their spot in the United States.

He pulled no punches in the press after the loss, suggesting there had been a bias towards Argentina in the game and, more specifically, Lionel Messi: "We looked better than the reigning champions - better in everything - but the result was influenced by internal factors on the pitch and external factors off it.

"Perhaps they wanted to keep the world champion in the competition. Perhaps they wanted Messi to stay in the running.

"In football, there are sometimes external factors that go beyond the technical aspects. The world champion received support at every level."
