Former Crawley Town CEO wants to build a statue of Scott Lindsey in his own backyard!
In an exclusive interview with Football Park, the former CEO at Crawley Town Erdem Konyar gave plenty of praise to their current manager Scott Lindsey.
“If I was the (current) owners, I’d get a statue of him in my own garden!” said Konyar, jokingly. “So that I could go and have breakfast and thank him everyday because, what he’s done is a miracle.”
In one and a half seasons, Lindsey took Crawley Town from the relegation zone of League Two at the start of 2023, to play-off final champions in the summer of 2024. Now a League One manager still with the Reds, Lindsey is the current favourite to take charge of Championship side Preston North End.
“I wish I had appointed him, where was this guy?!” added Konyar. “This man deserves a lot of things. To get what he’s got out of these players, and to play the way they have, the goal in the play-off final with the disguises of the passes.”
Konyar was the CEO at Crawley Town from the end of the 2016, until the summer of 2022. During his time at the club, the reds survived as an EFL outfit, and enjoyed notable victories against Leeds United in the FA Cup.
“We should wax lyrical about Scott Lindsey,” added EFL expert and host of the EFLDebate Gab Sutton. “Because I think as well as being a brilliant manager and he’s done such a good job from a technical point of view, he’s also one of the best people I’ve come across in the game in terms of how he treats people.
“He’s got a really nice manner about him.”

For any side in the Championship looking for a new manager, you really cannot look further than Scott Lindsey

It seems as a trend each season now, Crawley Town are automatically favourites to make the drop. They face a tough challenge to stay up in League One this season, but they’ve faced much tougher before and right at the face of it was Lindsey. However, without those punches to the air in front of the Crawley fans after every victory from him, their chances of staying in the third tier for the first time since 2014 will be dramatically depleted.
Preston North End parted ways with manager Ryan Lowe after their opening day loss to Sheffield United. As the first managerial departure of the season, Lindsey looks like the ideal candidate.
