FPL GW8: THREE buys, TWO sales, ONE captain
Ahead of GW8 in the Premier League, we have picked three players you should be looking to have in your FPL team, two players that it may be time to move on, and the player who you should be looking to captain for the week.
An Ipswich striker being on FPL fans radar would have come as a surprise if you were told at the beginning of the season, however, Delap is now someone who could help improve your rank. Coming in at only 5.7m, he is one of the cheapest starting attackers in the game. His four goals from 1.2 xG could mean one of two things, that his goals are about to dry up, or that he could explode. Having someone such as Delap in your team could free up some funds to put elsewhere, for a Mohammed Salah or Erling Haaland (if for some reason you still have not got him).
Another cheaper option, coming in at the same price as Delap, McNeil is one to keep an eye on. The Everton midfielder is currently occupying somewhat of a free role in the side, where he can drift anywhere across the pitch to create chances. He has already matched last season’s goal tally of three goals, also having two assists. Everton face two of the newly promoted sides in their next three, and do not face a team currently sitting in the top four until December, so McNeil could be someone who sticks around in your team for a while.
Mbuemo’s haul of eight points in GW7 was the FIFTH time this season that he has scored at least eight points, yes that’s right, FIVE times. Currently he is the second most transferred-in player this week, after Brennan Johnson. Last time out he was on my buy list. His next match is against a struggling Manchester United, where nobody knows which side will turn up; however his next five after do look good for Mbuemo and Brentford, including the likes of Ipswich and Leicester at home.
Semenyo is one that his 10% of owners should be looking to move out of the door. The Bournemouth winger has only contributed to one goal in his last four games, and with Arsenal, Aston Villa, and Manchester City as his next three matches, that run looks likely to continue. Swapping Semenyo for McNeil is a move that owners should be looking to make before tomorrows deadline.
The idea of Vardy being only 5.7m and playing 70+ minutes every game is good, however, his return is not so impressive. With only one G+A in his last six games, Vardy looks to have possibly lost that final product. Currently owned by over 11% of the game, Vardy is not getting the returns needed to win your mini-league. He does have Southampton, Nottingham Forest, and Ipswich as his next three matches, however if you do take the risk be prepared to possibly lose out.
For the second week in a row, I am putting Haaland forward for the captain choice. Its hard to look past the Norwegian, who faces bottom of the league Wolves. Wolves are averaging three goals a game conceded this season, including five last time out against Brentford. Cole Palmer and Salah, who are the two main other captaincy candidates, face each other at the weekend in an unpredictable matchup, all the more reason to back Haaland and Manchester City.
