Is Cole Palmer The Best Chelsea Player Since Eden Hazard?

30/09/24 11:13

The Cole Palmer Show is the most watched on TV for another week running. Palmer bagged 4 against Brighton on the weekend and the 22 year old was disappointed because he ‘should have scored more’.

Chelsea’s main man is the second highest goalscorer in the Premier League with 6 goals, who is he behind? Erling Haaland of course, who has 10 to his name already.

Taking a trip back to memory lane, the question now is, is Cole Palmer on Eden Hazard’s level or has the young talent already surpassed the Chelsea legend?

In terms of awards won during their Chelsea careers, Hazard is still on top but simply due to the fact that the Belgian had a long career at Chelsea and Palmer is only in his second season.

Eden Hazard's awards:

Player Of The Season - 2014/15

Goal Of The Month - October 2014/15, April,2018/19

Premier League Champion - 2014/15, 2016/17

Player Of The Month - October 2016, September 2018

Cole Palmer's awards:

Young Player Of The Season- 2023/24

Goal Of The Month- April 23/24, August 2024/25

Player Of The Month- April 2024

Palmer is only a handful of awards behind Hazard and this is only after 14 months. Palmer WILL go on to win more and has already carried on exactly where he left off last season. With a very youthful Chelsea side, in the seasons to come, they will get stronger every season and will, without a doubt, win the league.

Palmer last season, beat Hazard's best ever goal tally. Hazard's best was 31 goal involvements in one season which came in the 2018.19 campaign, Palmer beat that in his first season in West London as he picked up 32 last season.

As well as that, Palmer has already scored more hat tricks for Chelsea. Palmer has scored two this season and scored one last. Eden Hazard only managed to score 2 hat tricks in his time at Stamford Bridge.

Palmer's next target will be to tackle the best footballer for Chelsea ever, he may have done that already as some Blues fans say Hazard is the best ever, but the likes of Didier Drogba, Frank Lampard and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbank still hold some prestigious records for 'The best club in London'.
