After a dramatic twist on Sunday's action in Glasgow and Livingston, it was all attention to Saturday's Scottish Premiership action. The standout fixture of the weekend between second place Rangers host Celtic, who are in third, has the nation gripped but there was still lots of big games on Saturday to look forward to including the Premiership leaders Hearts looking to extend their lead ahead of tomorrow's action at Ibrox.

Falkirk have been enjoying a dream return to the Scottish Premiership but their top six ambitions have taken a hit of late after losing their last two league matches but were hoping to get back on to winning ways against Kilmarnock who were winless in their last 11 away games in the Premiership, despite looking to have improved in performances under Neil McCann.
The Bairns wasted no time and went ahead within the opening minute; Calvin Miller got in behind the Kilmarnock defence and cut the ball back into the six-yard box where the ball ricocheted off Ethan Schilte-Brown and past Kelle Roos for the opening goal. Then just three minutes later it could have got worse for Killie as Barney Stewart headed home from a free-kick however a VAR review sent referee Colin Steven to the pitchside screen and deemed that Liam Henderson had been offside and interfering with play. The frantic start continued and it was Kilmarnock who had the ball in the back of the net next when Joe Hugill slotted home past Scott Bain, but the linesman had his offside flag up and the decision stood after a VAR check.
Falkirk then doubled their lead; a Miller corner played in where Stewart put his head on it but was denied by Roos but Dylan Tait reacted the fastest and bundled home. And eight minutes later the Bairns got themselves a third goal, another corner kick by Miller was the route to Killie's problems once again, the ball found it's way to the Falkirk captain Coll Donaldson who volleyed across the box and Stewart headed past Roos and into the top corner. Kilmarnock needed a route back into the game before half-time and they got it when Greg Kiltie fired into the corner from 20 yards out and Killie had a lifeline in the game going into the break.
The hosts again came out on fire and Calvin Miller's deliveries was causing all kinds of problems for the Killie defence and put in a low-cross into the box where Barney Stewart side-footed past Roos from six yards out and Falkirk restored their three goal advantage. The three goal advantage became four just five minutes later; Tait unleashed a swerving effort which decieved Roos in the Kilmarnock goal and Falkirk had scored five in the top-flight for the first time this season.
A result which more than boosts Falkirk's chances of finishing in the top six, not mathematically confirmed but it would take a bad loss of form and results if they were to drop out now. As for Kilmarnock, they miss out on an opportunity to get themselves out of the relegation play-off spot and concede conceded at least three goals for the fifth time in seven matches.

Hibernian partied like it was 2010 at Celtic Park last week, the Hibees first away Premiership win at Celtic in 16 years. They took on a Dundee side who also ended a long away hoodoo, their 3-2 win at Aberdeen ending 22 year wait for a win at Pittodrie. When it comes to these two sides however, Hibernian have won the last three meetings including a 2-1 win at Dens Park back in August.
Dundee started the better and had the first attempt at breaking the deadlock; Cameron Congreve's corner was played in to Ethan Hamilton who could not get his header on target. The Hibees made the hosts pay for their miss just four minutes later; Nicky Cadden crossing from the left where Owen Elding headed home past Jon McCracken and the January signing from Sligo Rovers got his second goal for the club. But the Dees were quick to respond; Luke Graham finding Simon Murray in the Hibs box and his shot was deflected by Rocky Bushiri and past Raphael Sallinger.
David Gray's side then dominated the large majority of the opportunities in the second-half, the ball broke off Yan Dhanda in the Dees box straight into the path of Elding but his shot was blasted over McCracken's crossbar. Felix Passlack and Jamie McGrath both had good opportunities moments later but neither could capitalise for the visitors. Dundee made the Hibees pay; Drey Wright with an excellent cross into the box where Luke Graham emerged from a pack of bodies to side-foot an excellent volley pass Sallinger and the Dees were in front.
Hibernian though are not ones for giving up without a fight and equalised heading into the closing stages; substitute Ante Suto took a brilliant first touch to kill a ball over the top and then managed to tuck the ball under McCracken with his second touch. Then Jamie McGrath sent the visiting fans wild as the Ireland international managed to shift away from a defender and drilling home in what looked like the winner for the Hibees. But there was to be a killer blow for the Hibees in the 95th minute; the ball sat nicely for Cameron Congreve on the edge of the box and he curled in an absolute beauty past Sallinger and both teams take a point.
Fifth-placed Hibernian trail Motherwell by seven points in the race to secure a European spot for next season. Dundee, meanwhile, move seven points clear of Kilmarnock in the relegation play-off.

Claudio Braga with the only goal at Tynecastle puts Hearts seven points ahead at the top ahead of tomorrow's match at Ibrox

Not a good time for an out-of-form Aberdeen to be travelling to Tynecastle; the Dons have not scored away in the Scottish Premiership in their last six games on the road and were without a league win in Gorgie since May 2017, the manager who secured that win? Derek McInnes. Leaders Hearts knew a win would put the Jambos seven points clear; with Rangers and Celtic facing each other at Ibrox on Sunday.
As expected the Jambos started on the front foot; Claudio Braga with a header which was kept out by Dimitar Mitov, who was back in the Dons goal after four games on the bench. Pierre Kabore was next to threaten the Dons rear-guard and should have perhaps put the hosts in front but the striker was unable to get the ball over the top and on-target over Mitov who had came out onrushing.
The Dons were gradually getting more into the game and Toyosi Olusanya could have put them in front when he got on the end of Topi Keskinen's cross into the box, but fired his first-time effort over. The Jambos soon made Aberdeen pay for their miss; Kabore outmuscled his way and avoided Liam Morrison's sliding tackle and the Hearts striker was able to pick out Braga who slotted past Mitov and the leaders took the lead.
Hearts came out of half-time on the front foot and were looking for a second which could and probably should have finished the game as a contest; Kabore tried his luck which stung the hands of Mitov but his effort was kept out. Braga was next to grab his and Hearts' second goal of the day but Mitov once again was on hand to deny the Jambos.
Whilst Aberdeen were still in the game they did not do enough to find a way back into the match; Kevin Nisbet with the Dons best chance of the day but his first-time volley didn't do enough to trouble Schwolow in the goal and Hearts were able to run out comfortable winners.
Aberdeen's ninth league defeat in their last 12 Premiership wins means their chances of finishing inside the top six look to vanishing, if it hasn't already disappeared. The same cannot be said for Hearts, seven points clear of Rangers and they will watch tomorrow's match at Ibrox with a keen eye as they hope one or perhaps both can drop points in the title race.
Motherwell 2-0 Dundee United
T. Maswanhise (37 Pen' 46')

Tawanda Maswanhise's brace sends the Zimbabwe international top of the Premiership goalscoring charts

Jim Goodwin's Dundee United managed to earn a point at home against Aberdeen in midweek but must have been thinking the worse going to Fir Park against a Motherwell team who they have only won of their last six league games against. The Steelmen managing to win their last three home games against United and came into this full of confidence after demolishing St. Mirren last Saturday in Paisley.
Motherwell started the game on the front foot with United needing a well-timed challenge from Iurie Iovu to deny Ibrahim Said from shooting in front of goal. Callum Slattery was next to try his luck but his effort was flashed across goal after being played in by Elijah Just. United however were gradually coming more and more into the game; Max Watters and Luca Stephenson with efforts but Calum Ward in the Well goal saved both United chances.
Jens Berthel Askou's side are the great entertainers in the Scottish Premiership but were not at their best in this one but did have the opportunity to open the scoring from the penalty spot; an off-the-ball altercation from Vicko Sevelj on Tawanda Maswanhise was the cause of the penalty, the United defender appeared to elbow the Zimbabwe international in the chest. Nick Walsh was called to the pitchside monitor and deemed Sevelj's challenge reckless and pointed to the spot where Maswanhise sent Ashley Maynard-Brewer the wrong way.
The Steelmen doubled their lead just after half-time; Elliot Watt's free-kick found Maswanhise on the edge of the penalty box with the Motherwell striker taking an excellent take and turn and shot towards goal which deflected off Sevelj and into the corner. The goal takes Maswanhise top of the Premiership goalscoring charts.
Dundee United did not really trouble Ward in the Motherwell goal; subsitute Kristijan Trapanovski with the visitors best effort of the second-half as he sent a corner-kick which hit off the far side post.
Motherwell extend their impressive Fir Park run; 11 home games unbeaten for the Steelmen and they move a point behind Celtic in the table ahead of their big match v Rangers. As for United they still have only managed one Premiership win in 2026, and have earned five points out of their last 24 available.
Livingston 1-1 St. Mirren

Livingston must have been boyed by their 2-2 draw v Rangers last week, despite throwing away a 2-0 lead but still remain winless in the Premiership since August heading into a meeting v St. Mirren who lost 5-0 v Motherwell last week and were without an away win in their last 10 Premiership games.
The Buddies earned a late 1-1 draw at Livingston last month and were looking to get themselves in front early on in this one; Scott Tanser with an excellent delivery to Jayden Richardson but his looping header hit the top of Jerome Prior's crossbar. An enteraining first-half with plenty of chances; Mikael Mandron shot from distance after catching Livingston playing out from the back but could not trouble Prior. Robbie Muirhead had Livi's first real chance of the game but his effort, from inside the Saints box, went wide.
Lewis Smith scored last week and was looking to be goal provider this time around as he teed in Scott Pittman but his first-time shot went wide. Livi were upping the pressure and St. Mirren needed Shamal George to keep the scoreline level; Alex Gogic making a mess at the back which gave Smith an opportunity but was denied by the Buddies number one. St. Mirren then made the hosts pay and took the lead shortly before half-time; Richardson played in Mandron and his cross was headed back across goal by Dan Nlundulu and past Prior, the Buddies ahead.
In the second-half; Macualay Tait played in Muirhead but his shot was pushed behind George and out for a corner kick. In truth however the second-half was not as eventful as the first half as both teams struggled to break each other down. But it would Livingston who would get themselves back into the game; subsitute Barrie McKay with a deep cross into the box and Brooklyn Kabongolo with a direct header past George and it was all level.
Livingston have stopped losing matches; three draws in a row under Marvin Bartley which could help change their fortunes around but Livi still remain seven points behind Kilmarnock, in the relegation playoff. After losing there last three Premiership games, St. Mirren take a point and move three in front of Killie in eleventh place.
