Two sides with contrasting forms met at the Falkirk Stadium; the home side were looking to win three Premiership matches in a row since January 2008 with Dundee United arriving on the back of a four match losing streak in the Premiership.
It was United who started the better; Ross Graham seen his free header pushed over the crossbar by Scott Bain, from the resulting corner Craig Sibbald drilled a low drive just wide. However it was Falkirk who opened the scoring; Dylan Tait passed to the feet of Barney Stewart, with his back to goal, and the Scotland U21 striker turned to feed in Aston Villa loanee Ben Broggio and guided the ball past Ashley Maynard-Brewer and Broggio got his second goal for the club.
It was a lead that wouldn't last long as United got gifted an equaliser just minutes later; Broggio's clearance should have been straightforward for Bain to deal with but Liam Henderson did not get out of his way and collied with the goalkeeper which allowed Graham to fire home into an empty net. Falkirk could have regained the lead before-half time but Lewis Neilson, formerly of United, couldn't capitalise as his header smashed off the crossbar.
However the Bairns did retake the lead after the interval; Filip Lissah played in Leon McCann who sprinted into the United penalty box and McCann picked out the on-loan Swansea man Lissah who finished from close range. But for the second time Falkirk couldn't keep a hold of their lead and Jim Goodwin's side equalised within two minutes; Zac Sapsford's shot was blocked but fell kindly to Craig Sibbald from around 20 yards out and struck an excellent effort past Bain into the bottom corner and it was game on once again.
Then, for the hosts, came the game's biggest talking point; United were breaking and Liam Henderson brought down Max Watters which Ryan Lee deemed to be a yellow card offence. However the challenge was reviewed by VAR and the advice and eventual final decision was a clear goalscoring opportunity was denied and Henderson's yellow was upgraded to a red, the club's first red card in the Premiership this season.
United sensed the opportunity to win the game and they got themselves a winner when Ryan Strain's cross was glanced down by Ivan Dolcek and Julius Eskesen had the composure and space to finish home and score his first goal for United.
Victory for United which keeps their chances of a top-half finish alive, they might be 11 points behind Falkirk in sixth place but they have two games in hand to make up.

Two out of form Premiership teams met at Dens Park; Dundee have failed to score in their last four league games and bottom side Livingston have lost their last four league games and still without a win since defeating Falkirk back in August.
Dundee's goal drought in the Premiership came to an end after only three minutes on the clock; Yan Dhanda's corner kick swung in perfectly to Simon Murray who fired from close range and scored his first Premiership goal since scoring in the same fixture in September. He wouldn't need to wait long for his third goal at home v Livi this season, Cameron Congreve with an excellent cross with the Dees' skipper heading home past Prior and it was 2-0 to Dundee after only five minutes on the clock.
Congreve wanted to turn from provider to scorer and the on-loan Swansea midfielder cut in from the right and unleashed a shot but went straight at Prior who gathered. Livi made Congreve regret his miss as they got on the scoresheet when Robbie Muirhead found Lewis Smith fired a low drilled, on the turn, past Jon McCracken and Marvin Bartley's side were back in contention.
All this occurred in the opening quarter of an hour and amazingly there was a fourth goal after only 19 minutes on the clock; McCracken made a mess of what should of been a simple passback under pressure from Muirhead and the ball managed to break to Scott Pittman who slotted home into an empty net. Before half-time Congreve had another chance to put Dundee back into the lea but Prior, once again, denied the Dees' attacker with an excellent block.
Dundee came close to restoring their lead after half-time; subsitute Scott Wright played in Ethan Hamilton on the edge of the box but his shot flew just wide. Then Smith tried his luck again for Livi, this time from long range, but his strike which was dipping flew over the crossbar. However the second-half couldn't match the tempo of the first but Congreve once again had the biggest chance to get a winner late in the game but was denied by Prior, who initially fumbled his shot but recovered in time to see the game out for Livingston.
Marvin Bartley gets his first point on the board as Livingston manager but the side rooted to the bottom will need to turn draws into wins if they have any hope of staying in the Scottish Premiership for next season.

Goals from Owen Elding and Ante Suto give Hibernian a win over St. Mirren in Leith

Defeat on Tuesday night in the Edinburgh Derby for Hibernian and the last team they probably would have wanted to face was St. Mirren. The Buddies might be winless in the Premiership in their last nine away league games but are unbeaten at Easter Road in their last four visits to Leith.
The Hibees' started lively; Jack Iredale made an excellent cross to Miguel Chaiwa but the midfielder headed straight at Shamal George. Chaiwa tried his luck in front of goal again but his shot was straight at George. Hibs pushed up and continued to look threatening; Warren O'Hora's delivery across the box was met by Dane Scarlett but his shot was mistimed.
With the first-half time ticking down it looked like St. Mirren was going to see out the half but the hosts had other ideas and took the lead when Dan Barlaser put in an excellent cross which was met by Owen Elding who glanced home into the corner and the hosts were in front. Elding's first goal for the club after his transfer from Sligo Rovers in January.
Hibs could and probably should of had a second goal just after half-time when Nicky Cadden crossed to the back post where Felix Passlack was there and slammed a volley but it smashed off the post. St. Mirren should have made Hibs pay for some slack play by Chaiwa; the midfielder gave away possession outside the Hibs box and Mikael Mandron raced towards the box and fired a shot which Raphael Sallinger tipped over the bar.
Hibernian eventually got the second goal which their overall good play deserved; excellent play from Cadden at the byline and sent in a low drived cross which was palmed to subsitute Ante Suto who bundled home from close range.
As a result St. Mirren slip to tenth place in the Premiership table, three points in front of Kilmarnock who are in the relegation playoff. Hibernian move two behind Motherwell in the race for fourth place, however the Steelmen have two games in hand over the Hibees.
Three matches still to be played on Sunday: the blockbuster fixture of the Scottish Premiership season so far sees second place Rangers host title leaders Hearts at Ibrox. Five points the difference between the sides with Celtic, in third place, six points behind and travel to Kilmarnock to face who have won back-to-back home games at Rugby Park.
Managerless Aberdeen travel to the Premiership's top entertainers Motherwell at Fir Park. The Dons have lost six of their last eight Premiership wheras the Steelmen have only lost once in their last seventeen league matches.
