Why We Are Backing This Bet

Anything can happen when it comes to a Liverpool game these days. Similar to the slump Manchester City suffered last season, the Reds' form has dropped off a cliff, and with it, any sort of predictability.

Mo Salah scoring would have been a banker this time last season - now, the Egyptian comes into the game with just two goals in his last 10 at club level, while Slot’s defence, so impassable last season, has kept just two clean sheets in 14.

Suffering a devastating loss to a severely out-of-form Nottingham Forest at Anfield last time out, one can only imagine the knock in confidence the boys in red have had ahead of this game against an electric PSC side.

There is, of course, the possibility that Liverpool use the Forest game as an anchor point to turn their season around. However, given how bereft of creativity they looked against Sean Dyche’s side at the weekend, the likelihood of a performance against Peter Bosz’ outfit does not look high.

PSV to Cause a Shock?

Possibly the most outlandish leg of this bet, predicting a PSV win or draw will send countless Scousers reeling, but there is method behind the madness.

There have been over 2.5 goals in six of PSV’s last eight, including four games which featured five goals or more, while Liverpool boast identical figures, suggesting that whatever the score, it will not be a low one.

With PSV having an adventurous side, being most comfortable in transition, and Liverpool desperate to regain some respectability, we can safely say that both sides will be hungry for goals here in a bid to make a statement win.
