Free Multi Bet Tips - Aston Villa vs Chelsea Preview and Bet Builder Tips and Predictions

Wednesday evening's lineup is an absolute cracker, and it’s headlined by a game which could make or break both sides' seasons in their race for Champions League football as Aston Villa welcomes an out-of-form Chelsea.

The Villains, having sat eight points clear of fourth place in early January, now sit level on points with a resurgent Manchester United and have in fact, slipped to fourth place, lying behind the Red Devils thanks to an inferior goal difference.

Chelsea, meanwhile, having had a three-point gap in fifth, have now slipped to sixth after three winless league games on the trot, two of which ended in disappointing draws against newly promoted Leeds United and Burnley.

Both sides require a result to stabilise the ship here, and one will go home with their season aspirations in tatters. The question is, who is brave enough to change things up and gamble with their season? That’s what getting a result here will require.

With so much on the line here, it is only right that you also put something at stake too. That is why Football Park has crafted two distinct bet builders, catering to those looking for both big wins and small profits and bringing you closer to the game.

Why We Are Backing This Bet

Low Risk

Home Favourites: Villa do come into this game as marginal favourites – although their form has actually been worse than Chelsea’s, winning just one of their last five league games, Villa Park has been something of a fortress – across the entire season, they have lost at home just three times.

Though they may have lost to rock-bottom Wolves last time out, that defeat is likely to serve as a kick in the backside, and they cannot let their superior position slip between now and the end of the season. Villa will be highly motivated here and should take advantage of playing on their home ground.

Goals at Both Ends: With that being said, the last thing Chelsea are going to do is give Villa an easy ride of things – they are the fourth-best scorers in the league this season, and netting 11 more times than Aston Villa, there is plenty of firepower up top for Chelsea, and they’ll cause more than a few problems.

However, the Blues’ backline has been where the problems lie – between the likes of Robert Sanchez, Tosin Adarabioyo, Trevoh Chalobah and Wesley Fofana, countless mistakes have been made, and the more mistakes you make, the more likely you are to be punished for them.

Watkins Watch: It’s no secret that Ollie Watkins is in the middle of a bit of a dry spell – he has failed to score in any of his last six games. However, the goalscoring intent is certainly still there, highlighted by the fact that in all of these matches, Watkins has got some shots off and, in three of them, at least hit the target.

With former Chelsea buy Tammy Abraham now providing challenging backup, Watkins needs to start hitting the heights of seasons past again if he wishes to keep his starting spot, and it starts with a good performance against Chelsea here. Expect him to test Robert Sanchez.

High Risk

Chelsea in Command: Chelsea are a baffling side. Capable of pushing Arsenal to the brink at the Emirates but unable to secure points against two newly promoted sides at home, Liam Rosenior has encountered plenty of teething problems since becoming the new face of the club, not least in the fact that their disciplinary issues seem to have persisted, with two red cards being shown in their last two games.

However, there are bundles of talent amongst the available squad members, with Cole Palmer, Willian Estevão and João Pedro - if they are on song on Wednesday evening, Chelsea could well tip some momentum back in their favour with a win.

Perfect Pedro: On the subject of Joao Pedro, the Brazilian has been one of Chelsea’s best players since Rosenior arrived at the club, even during his side's rotten recent Premier League run, as he netted against Leeds and Burnley.

Coming into his own at Stamford Bridge with a combination of neat and tody dribbling and more than enough physicality to match the bulk of most defenders, Pedro has become their main outlet in Cole Palmer's recent drop-off in form and will be key to unlocking the Villa defence here. If Chelsea does get a goal here, Joao Pedro will be at the centre of it.

Caution for Cash: Ever dependable, Matty Cash has been a staple of the Aston Villa side since they scraped survival at the end of the 2019/20 season, making 30 or more appearances for the Villans in every subsequent campaign.

During that time, he has gained a reputation for presenting a hefty challenge every now and again. Already on six yellow cards for the season, he will have his hands full with whichever Chelsea winger he is faced with. Expect him to misjudge his challenge once or twice and receive a seventh booking of the campaign.

Goal-Fest: If Chelsea do win this game, they will have to do it without a clean sheet. The Blues have managed to make just two shutouts in their last 13 Premier League games, a key factor in falling behind in the race for Europe, and if their performance at the back against Arsenal is anything to go by, improvements are certainly not imminent.

They have the capacity to score three or four goals by themselves, but the shaky foundations at the back mean that two Villa goals are more than within reason. Either way, this game promises goals, and this is no surprise – Chelsea's last three journeys to Villa Park have featured three or more goals.
