When you go on a terrible run of daily prop bets, coming devilishly close to winning each and every line, you sit here and wonder as a writer what on earth you have to do to make your luck turn around for a profitable start to 2026. Sacrifice someone? Make an evil pact? Collect rabbit's feet? My mind has ran wild on how to get Lady Luck back in my favour, but I think I have the solution... betting against my own team.
Yes, this evening's Banker of the Day features none other than my beloved Nottingham Forest, and I'm backing their Europa League visitors, Ferencvaros, to get at least one goal at the City Ground tonight.
Nottingham Forest's season has been... turbulent, to say the least and their Europa League adventure they earned agains the odds last season has been a touch underwhelming, with their run of three wins, two draws and two losses leaving them in 16th of the 36-strong running pack, three points away from automatic progression but also four points away from dropping out of the tournament, sealing at least a playoff spot in February.
Sean Dyche has been insistent on rotating his side for this midweek adventures, and did the same in the Reds' last European outing away to Braga. That didn't work, however, as Forest were defeated amidst an absolutely terrible display. They then bested Brentford 2-0 in the Premier League to recover, but with a grudge match against Crystal Palace on the horizon we can expect swaps in Nottingham again tonight. They also conceded against Utrecht in a 2-1 away win.
Their visitors, Hungarian side Ferencvaros, should not be under-estimated at all tonight. They reside in the top eight of the league phase on merit, being one of just three sides in the whole tournament to have not lost a game in Europe this term whilst being the only team of those three to have scored in every European game this season as well. They will be a tougher nut to crack than many will expect, and we can see them getting another goal this evening.
