The quarter final stage of the Carabao Cup sees eight time winners of the competition Manchester City welcome Brentford who last reached the semi finals of the competition back in 2020/21.
Despite perhaps being keen to rest some of his key players, Pep Guardiola will want to win the cup, having gone trophyless for the first time since his first campaign in Manchester last season.
Brentford meanwhile will be looking to cause an upset at the Etihad. The Bees have never won a major honour in their history, and have never reached the final of either the EFL Cup or FA Cup. Manager Keith Andrews will sense an opportunity to make history following on from taking over from Thomas Frank.
Goalkeeper: Trafford
Defenders: Nunes, Khusanov, Ake, Ait-Nouri
Midfielders: Nico Gonzalez, Reijnders
Forwards: Savinho, Cherki, Doku, Marmoush
Goalkeeper: Kelleher
Defenders: Ajer, Collins, Van Den Berg, Kayode
Midfielders: Yarmolyuk, Henderson
Forwards: Ouattara, Damsgaard, Schade, Thiago
Real Madrid 1-2 Manchester City
Manchester City 3-0 Sunderland
Fulham 4-5 Manchester City
Manchester City 3-2 Leeds Utd
Manchester City 0-2 Bayer Leverkusen
Guardiola's side have been in fine form since a 0-2 home defeat to Bayer Leverkusen in the UEFA Champions League, with four wins in a row including an impressive victory at the Santiago Bernabeu over under pressure Xabi Alonso's Real Madrid.
Tottenham 2-0 Brentford
Arsenal 2-0 Brentford
Brentford 3-1 Burnley
Brighton 2-1 Brentford
Brentford 3-1 Newcastle
The last two matches for the Bees saw consecutive 2-0 defeats in North London to Tottenham and Arsenal respectivally, so Andrews will be hoping a cup upset will boost morale for his team.
Electric winger Doku has been in strong form of late, and will look to be the spark to break down a likely stubborn Brentford side
One of only two players to be sitting on double figures for goals in the current Premier League campagin. Striker Igor Thiago has been excellent for Brentford since returning from a long-term injury and will be key to anything his side do in attack.
