Galatasaray welcome Istanbul Basaksehir to RAMS park to kick off the first game in the Turkish Super Cup. Running riot in the league this season, Galatasaray will ensure they bring their dominant form into their cup campaign. Sitting seventh in the league, Basaksehir will be searching for more glory in this competition but have been given an unfortunate start to it.
Galatasaray have been a monumental threat so far this season, eight points clear at the top of the table and have yet to taste defeat at all this season. After being knocked out in the quarter finals last season, Okan Buruk and his side will be on the hunt for redemption and with the from they are in, they should be able to walk the Turkish cup this season. Dries Mertens has shown how important experience is, with 10 goal contributions in the league so far, the 37-year-old has shone this season for Galatasaray.
Unbeaten in their last three games, Basaksehir have had a very mediocre season so far. But there has been one huge beacon of light for the Turkish side in the form of Polish striker Kryzsztof Piatek. Leading the race to the golden boot, Piatek has now scored 12 goals and has revived his career under Cagdas Atan.
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Predicted Line-Up: Muslera; Jakobs, Bardakci, Sanchez, Ayhan; Sara, Torreira; Akgun, Mertens, Yilmaz; Osimhen
Buruk will likely field his strongest side for this game to ensure they hit the ground running in this competition. It is likely going to be a goal fest with the quality in attack for this Galatasaray side with Victor Osimhen leading the line. Netting 10 goals in his league campaign so far, the Nigerian will be looking to open his goal account in the Turkish Cup.
Formation: 4-1-4-1
Predicted Line-Up: Sengezer; Lima, Opoku, Gureler, Duarte; Ergun; Figueiredo, Crespo, Kemen, Turuc; Piatek
Basaksehir have a huge challenge ahead of them, but they have shown strength in the last few games. Atan may make one change to his side for this game, starting Brazilian winger Joao Figueiredo. Already with five goals in the league, bringing him into the side can make the attack more prolific against a side that have been strong defensively this season.
The last time these two sides faced off in the Turkish Cup, it was Basaksehir who emerged victorious, with winger Patryk Szysz picking up a brace. But with him out of form, the spotlight will turn to Piatek to break down this defence.
Galatasaray are the team to beat at the minute and while Basaksehir are a side with a prolific attack, the Galatasary are simply just too strong for their opponents in this one.
For that reason, our betting experts have decided Galatasary to Win as the best value tip for this game. With odds 8/15, a stake of £10 could see a return of up to £15.33
Galatasaray 2-0 Istanbul Basaksehir
