Leicester City vs Chelsea Prediction

The Premier League returns this weekend, after an international break that seemed to drag on forever. Opening the weekends action in the 12:30 kick off is Leicester City, who take on a high flying Chelsea, who themselves are reacquainting themselves with top four status.

While the Blues have failed to win both of their last two league games, their opposition has been of a high calibre, as they have drawn to Manchester United and Arsenal in their last two outings.

Leicester have had a steady start to the season, and have done well to pick up wins against Bournemouth and fellow promotees Southampton, but they have stalled in recent games, losing three of their last four.

As the Premier League gets back underway, here is everything you need to know about both sides ahead of kick-off.

Key Statistics

  • Leicester have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last five games in all competitions.
  • The Foxes are performing the most clearances per 90 minutes in the league this season, averaging 27.5 clearances each game.
  • Chelsea have bagged the second most goals in the division this season, scoring 21 alongside Liverpool, and they trail Manchester City by just one.
  • Chelsea have so far had 13 different names on the scoresheet so far this season.

Leicester City Preview

Leicester City Predicted Lineup (4-3-3): Mads Hermansen (GK); Victor Kristiansen, Jannik Vestergaard, Wout Faes, James Justin; Wilfred Ndidi, Harry Winks, Boubakary Soumare; Abdul Fatawu, Odsonne Edouard, Jordan Ayew.

With the recent form plummeting, and missing a handful of starting players, Leicester’s situation looks pretty hopeless heading into Saturday’s clash with the London club.

Missing Jamie Vardy through a back injury, Ricardo Perreira with a hamstring injury, Patson Daka with an ankle injury, and Facundo Buonanotte, who so far has arguably been their player of the season, through a one game suspension, Leicester are a significantly weakened side.

While Jordan Ayew and Odsonne Edouard both have Premier League experience, they would not be Leicester City’s go to replacement duo, and with the inexperienced Abdul Fatawu on the left, Leicester could struggle to create chances here.

Chelsea Preview

Chelsea Predicted Lineup (4-2-3-1): Robert Sanchez (GK); Marc Cucurella, Levi Colwill, Tosin Adarabioyo, Reece James; Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo; Pedro Neto, Cole Palmer, Noni Madueke; Nicolas Jackson.

Chelsea have no such injury issues. They are missing Wesley Fofana, Romeo Lavia and Jadon Sancho, but such is the Blues squad depth, they have two or three players in each position that can fill in more than adequately for injured or missing squad members.

Cole Palmer also looks set to play after turning down England duty in favour of recovering from a knee injury, so you can expect to see him back to his best after a quiet performance in the draw to Arsenal.

Chelsea are favourites here, and with their free scoring form and young, exciting squad, I can see them impressing here. Playing a promoted side is a good opportunity for any team, particularly for one with surprise Champions League aspirations.

Leicester City vs Chelsea Betting Tip

With such contrasting table positions, as well as contrasting form in front of goal, Chelsea are the only winners here.

That is why we are backing Chelsea to take the win here, and after scoring one goal in each of their last two league games, this presents the perfect opportunity to carry over their Conference League goalscoring to the top flight. We are also back over 1.5 goals.

Leicester City vs Chelsea Final Prediction

Leicester City 0-3 Chelsea

Chelsea will coast here. Leicester, with their injury-hit squad, will not be able to keep up with the new found intensity of Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea, and after hanging with them for the first hour or so, they will tail off after the Blue’s open the scoring.
