The Premier League returns after the International Break this week and we are being treated to an amazing fixture on Saturday 23rd November 2024 as Manchester City take on Tottenham Hotspur at the Etihad Stadium.
Pep Guardiola signed a new contract at Manchester City this week and now has a tough challenge as he takes on Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur in what is a must win game for the champions. Spurs always give City a good test setting this up as an interesting game.
Manchester City Predicted Lineup - Ederson; Rico Lewis, Joško Gvardiol, Jahmai Simpson-Pusey, Kyle Walker; Mateo Kovačić; Matheus Nunes, İlkay Gündoğan, Phil Foden, Savinho; Erling Haaland
Manchester City currently sit 2nd in the Premier League on 23 points. Currently the champions are five points off the top and having lost each of their last four fixtures they will look to get back on track in this game.
Luckily for them they have scored the joint second most goals in the league having found the back of the net 22 times so far. This mostly thanks to Haaland up front who has twelve goals already this campaign. Will he add to his tally in this match?
Tottenham Hotspur Predicted Lineup - Guglielmo Vicario; Destiny Udogie, Radu Drăgușin, Cristian Romero, Pedro Porro; Pape Matar Sarr, Rodrigo Bentancur, Dejan Kulusevski; Son Heung-min, Dominic Solanke, Brennan Johnson
Spurs have picked up 16 points so far this season leaving them sat in 10th position. A disappointing start for their standards. A win though will put them right back on track following that devastating defeat against Ipswich Town in their last game.
They don’t have a bad scoring or defensive record by any means. They have only conceded 13 goals this season and have scored more goals than any other team having found the back of the net 23 times so far. It’s just about picking up points where it counts for them.
These two teams have played each other 172 times in their histories. And overall Manchester City have a very slight advantage having won 68 games to Tottenham’s 67 wins. There have also been 37 draws in that time.
Interestingly though Spurs have proven a tough test for Man City having only lost three of the last eight games against them. Their most recent meeting ended in a 2-1 win for this weekend’s away side.
30th October 2024 - Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 Manchester City - EFL Cup
14th May 2024 - Tottenham Hotspur 0-2 Manchester City - Premier League
26th January 2024 - Tottenham Hotspur 0-1 Manchester City - FA Cup
3rd December 2023 - Manchester City 3-3 Tottenham Hotspur - Premier League
5th February 2023 - Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 Manchester City - Premier League
This is bound to be a very interesting game - as it so often is. We would expect Manchester City to bounce back from their poor run of form in this game though considering they are at home and are a much stronger side than Spurs overall.
Expect goals in this game though with both teams having very similar scoring records. They score a lot of goals.
We are backing Manchester City To Win and Over 1.5 First Half Goals in this game at odds of 9/5. These odds mean that £10 has the potential to return up to £28.
(Odds subject to change)
Manchester City 2-1 Tottenham Hotspur
