The fourth gameweek of the Women’s Super League sees fourth placed Manchester United take on a middle table Tottenham Hotspur, in a fixture which was renowned for its goals last season.
United and Spurs played three times last season, and four goals were scored in every fixture, including a one sided FA Cup final which the red devils’ won 4-0. Neutral fans will be hoping for more of them pulsating football in their first meeting of the 2024/25 season.
As the game approaches, here is everything you need to know about both sides ahead of kick-off.
Manchester United Predicted Lineup (4-3-3): Phallon Tullis-Joyce (GK); Leah Galton, Millie Turner, Maya Le Tissier, Jayde Riviere; Grace Clinton, Dominique Janssen, Ella Toone; Melvine Malard, Elisabeth Terland, Geyse.
Marc Skinner’s United side have made a pretty flawless start to the new season, beating both West Ham and Everton to nil, while also defeating Liverpool 2-0 in the League Cup.
Along with Chelsea, they are one of just two sides yet to concede in the league, and with the knowledge that they beat Tottenham 4-0 twice last season, they will be confident that their form at the back continues.
With a potent attacking lineup to complement their solid defense, Geyse and Malard will cause the Spurs full-backs all sorts of problems, while Ella Toone will dictate the tempo and split the defense from her advanced midfield role.
Tottenham Hotspur Predicted Lineup (4-2-3-1): Rebecca Spencer (GK); Amanda Nilden, Molly Bartrip, Clare Hunt, Ashleigh Neville; Eveliina Summanen, Maite Oroz; Jessica Naz, Drew Spence, Hayley Raso; Martha Thomas.
Spurs have started the season much more inconsistently than United. Though they have played one more game than their opposition, they have fewer points, winning, drawing and losing one game apiece.
They opened their account in the best possible fashion with a comprehensive 4-0 pummelling of Crystal Palace. However, they then drew away to Aston Villa, before falling to a 3-2 defeat at home to Liverpool.
However, they did advance through their first round fixture in the League Cup with a narrow 2-1 win over Charlton Athletic in unconvincing fashion.
Exhibiting a somewhat leaky defense so far this season, Spurs will need to be on their game when they travel to the Leigh Sports Village Stadium, as Manchester United do not take kindly to defensive lapses in concentration.

Going off the head to head between the two sides, two things are almost certain. Firstly, that the game is going to be a high scorer, and secondly, that United will take the points back to Manchester.
With their 100% record so far intact, United will be set on maintaining it for as long as possible, and facing an opponent that they have had such recent success against, they will be confident of doing so.
Manchester United 3-0 Tottenham
United, as they have done in their previous fixtures, will have the majority of shots and possession, and will slowly strangle Tottenham out of the game. Spurs will get opportunities on the counter attack, but if they are to have a chance of winning, they need to force themselves into the game and keep the ball away from the high press of United.
While on paper this sounds relatively simple, United are a very difficult opponent, and will protect the ball as much as possible to stop a dangerous Spurs attack from getting into the game.
