This Wednesday’s Premier League clash sees Arsenal make the trip to face Nottingham Forest at the City Ground. This is a big match for both sides with them one place next to each other in the standings.
Both teams come into this game in hit and miss form, but it is Arsenal that has been slightly better over their last five games. They have lost twice and won their remaining three matches, suffering a loss in their most recent match at the hands of fellow London club West Ham United. On the other hand, Nottingham Forest have lost three games with the other two games ending in a win and a draw. Their defeat in their last game curtesy of Newcastle United meant that Forest have now lost in back-to-back games. This Wednesday’s match should be an interesting one with a lot on the line for both sides as they sit in second and third places.
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Nottingham Forest Predicted Line-Up: Matz Sels; Neco Williams, Murillo, Nikola Milenković, Ola Aina; Elliot Anderson, Ryan Yates; Callum Hudson-Odoi, Morgan Gibbs-White, Anthony Elanga; Chris Wood
There was no shortage of goals in Nottingham Forest’s match versus Newcastle United on Sunday, a shocking first half performance saw them conceding four goals. They came close to clawing back a point but ran out of time and unfortunately fell short. Nuno Espirito Santo and his players have now seen their third defeat in a row when playing away from home in the Premier League, slowly slipping outside of the UEFA Champions League spots. At the moment Forest still keep their place, sitting in third with 14 wins, seven losses and five draws from 26 games. Those results have left them with 47 points, six points behind opponents Arsenal.
At home is where The Tricky Trees have been their best, unbeaten at the City Ground for seven matches, winning six of them, including the 7-0 pummelling of Brighton & Hove Albion. All the way back in August 2024 was the last time that Nottingham Forest haven’t managed not to score at home and someone that could help in adding to that run is striker Chris Wood. The Kiwi has racked up 21 goal contributions, split into 18 goals and three assists. The next best player for Forest has been Anthony Elanga, a massive ten goal involvements behind Wood but the winger could still help to make the difference this Wednesday.
Formation: 4-3-3
Arsenal Predicted Line-Up: David Raya; Ricciardo Calafiori, Gabriel Magalhães, William Saliba, Jurrien Timber; Thomas Partey, Declan Rice, Martin Ødegaard; Leandro Trossard, Mikel Merino, Ethan Nwaneri
Arsenal have been very unfortunate with their extensive list of injuries, especially in the attacking department as centre midfielder Mikel Merino has had to do a job up front. It worked in the first match against Leicester City with the Spaniard scoring a brace but last weekend fell flat. West Ham United got the better of Arsenal thanks to Jarrod Bowen’s header, delivered in excellently from right back Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
The Gunners would have loved it if they saw off West Ham and Manchester City beat Liverpool but it was the worst possible outcome for them as both eventualities never happened. Had that been the case, they would only be five points behind Liverpool with a game in hand as they have 15 wins, three losses and eight draws from 26 matches. Those results have left them on 53 points, a whopping 11 behind Liverpool with The Reds playing one match more.
Failing to sign a striker in the January transfer window might just well have cost them the Premier League as currently their top three goal contributors are all out injured. Bukayo Saka’s 15, Kai Havertz’s 12 and Gabriel Martinelli’s nine are massive blows to the squad leaving it most likely down to Leandro Trossard to make the difference for the North London club this Wednesday to try a keep them with even a slither of a chance to win the title.
The last five faceoffs have been split in the favour of Arsenal, winning four out of the five games and losing to Nottingham Forest in the remaining match. This Wednesday is a difficult match to predict with Arsenal being in hit and miss form and Forest have a crazy season.

Arsenal have struggled with consistency over the last couple of weeks. They have shown a lack of dominance away from home in comparison to The Emirates. Nottingham Forest have also been poor on the road but excellent at home, unbeaten in their last seven.
For that reason, our betting experts have gone with a Draw as our best value tip for this game.
Odds of 5/2 mean that a £10 bet has the potential to return up to £35 in this match.
(odds subject to change)
Nottingham Forest 1-1 Arsenal
Nottingham’s capitulation against Newcastle should be taken into account before this game despite such an excellent home record. Based on statistics, Arsenal have the best defence in the league so it will be tough for Forest to find the back of the net in this one.
