AFC Bournemouth vs Newcastle United

Bournemouth kicked off their Premier League campaign of with a 1-1 home draw, sharing a point with Nottingham Forest, leaving them sat in ninth place. A finishing position of 12th last season after ending the 38 matches with 13 wins, 16 losses and 9 draws could be what the future has in store for them again.

The hosts have scored seven times in their last five matches across all competitions but that could be an area where they struggle this season. Top goalscorer for The Cherries last season, Dominic Solanke has since left to join Tottenham Hotspur. He recorded 19 goals in the league and that number will be hard to replicate in their efforts to finish mid-table again. Antoine Semenyo will have his say in trying to emulate that as it was his goal that ensured that Bournemouth would get a draw on the road. He is likely going to be in that no.9 role in this match again as he was in the previous game.

Newcastle were 1-0 victors in their drama filled first match of the season versus Southampton. That match saw them play for an hour with only ten men after centreback Fabian Schär received a red card from referee Craig Pawson as he deemed his square up with Ben Brereton Diaz and subsequent theatrics worthy of a sending off. Club cult hero Joelinton provided the goal in the 45th minute that would eventually allow them to take all three points.

He might not have been on the scoresheet in that game, but Alexander Isak was the one who set up the goal. Finishing the season with 25 goals and 2 assists across all competitions last year, the Swede should be back to his best in this game. He ability to garner goal contributions is a key factor in why The Magpies were involved in the battle for the European places, unfortunately just missing out by three points.

Predicted Line-Ups

Bournemouth

Neto; Smith, Zabarnyi, Huijsen, Kerkez; Cook, Scott; Ouattara, Tavernier, Sinisterra; Semenyo

Newcastle United

Pope; Livramento, Kelly, Burn, Hall; Longstaff, Guimaraes, Joelinton; Murphy, Isak, Gordon

What is this leg of the ACCA?

This leg of the ACCA is for Newcastle To Win + Isak To Score Anytime. Theoretically, Newcastle are the better side out of the two teams and both teams might have been slightly rusty in their opening games. We can see Isak getting back to his best in this one as well, helping push the tide in his team’s favour.

25-08-24 Prem ACCA Game 1

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Chelsea

Wolves travelled to the Emirates on opening weekend and went back home with nothing after losing 2-0 at the hands of Arsenal, Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka finding themselves with a goal apiece. Gary O’Neil’s side ended last season in 14th place and will want to aim higher with some of the talent that his squad posses.

Even though they might not have score in that game against Arsenal, Wolves still have two amazing attacking outputs for them. Last season Matheus Cunha and Hwang Hee-Chan ended the season with 24 goals and 10 assist in the Premier League combined, despite missing a fare few games between the two of them. Wolves might have lost winger Pedro Neto to their opposition in this week’s game Chelsea, but the return of Daniel Podence from his loan spell at Olympiacos and former PSG winger Pablo Sarabia leaves them with a good chance of pressuring the Chelsea defence.

Chelsea managed to claw their way to a sixth place finish in the Premier League last season and the reason behind that was essentially Cole Palmer. They will have ambitions of a higher finish thus year due to the nature of the club’s stature. To help with that they club has been incredibly active in the transfer window this summer. The Blues have brought in a total of 21 players through purchases from other clubs, returns from loan spells or promotion from their youth academy.

Manchester City coming to Stamford Bridge was the task that new manager Enzo Maresca had to deal with, and him and his team were unsuccessful in doing so. A 0-2 defeat sealed by former Chelsea player Mateo Kovacic, but Chelsea did have spells were they looked good. Cole Palmer should be back to his ways after an excellent but subdued Euro 2024 campaign as he is the man that Chelsea will most likely look to for providing them with a goal. Back from injury is Frenchman Christopher Nkunku and returning to Chelsea is João Félix, all three could be goalscorers for the capital based club.

Predicted Line-Ups

Wolves

Sa; Doherty, Mosquera, Toti, Ait-Nouri; Hwang, Lemina, J. Gomes, Sarabia; Cunha, Larsen

Chelsea

Sanchez; Gusto, Fofana, Colwill, Cucurella; Fernandez, Lavia; Madueke, Dewsbury-Hall, Nkunku; Jackson

What is this leg of the ACCA?

This leg of the ACCA is for Chelsea To Win + Over 1.5 Chelsea Goals. If they want to improve on their position from last year, The Blues must get a win in this one to try and start a winning streak. Even though Wolves have actually won the last three meetings, Chelsea’s attack seems too overpowering, especially now that Wolves have lost their best defender in Max Killman to West Ham.

25-08-24 Prem ACCA Game 2

Liverpool vs Brentford

Liverpool had the job of introducing newly promoted side Ipswich Town into the Premier League last weekend where they spared no pleasantries, beating them 0-2 thanks to goals from Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah. New manager Arne Slot has tough shoes to fill after replacing legend Jürgen Klopp but his style of football looked impressive to watch. Back in UEFA Champions League football this season, The Reds will see it as a massive disappointment if they are unable to repeat the trick as people are considering them as outsider in the title race after their third place finish last year.

Mo Salah’s goal in that match made it his ninth consecutive opening game in which he has scored. As Liverpool’s talisman, he will always be one to look out for, but a fully fit Diogo Jota is also lethal in front of goal. Even though the midfield needs strengthening, Ryan Gravenberch looked incredible after the break and “The Scouser In The Team” Trent Alexander-Arnold was once again putting his insane catalogue of passes on display again. With all of Liverpool’s players out in full force, it looks hard to say that they wont score loads of goals this season.

In spite of Ivan Toney’s absence from their opening match, Brentford still went onto beat dark horses Crystal Palace 2-1 at the Gtech Community Stadium. Goals from Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa proved enough to cancel out Ethan Pinnock’s own goal. Those two always seem to step up when The Bees are missing Toney and Thomas Frank will look to utilise them again in this match against Liverpool. Escaping the drop zone by two places will be on the back of his mind so if they can steal points from one of the “Big 6” then that would be great for Brentford.

This summers transfer window has seen these two sides do business twice as Fábio Carvalho and Sepp van den Berg have both joined the West London team from Merseyside. They might be in line to make their debuts against their former club in this match. This Brentford side is currently struggling with injury problems as three key players are out at the moment. New striker Igor Thiago, midfielder Josh Dasilva and rightback Aaron Hickey all unavailable for this game.

Predicted Line-Ups

Liverpool

Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Mac Allister, Gravenberch; Salah, Szoboszlai, Diaz; Jota

Brentford

Flekken; Roerslev, Collins, Pinnock, Ajer; Norgaard, Janelt, Jensen; Mbeumo, Wissa, Schade

What is this leg of the ACCA?

This leg of the ACCA is for Liverpool To Win, Mohamed Salah 1+ Shot On Target, Yoane Wissa 1+ Shot On Target. Liverpool should see this one through despite Brentford challenging them in the past. Last season Salah averaged 1.99 shots on target per 90 minutes in the Premier League and Wissa had 0.93.
