After a campaign for the ages last season, it is now all doom and gloom at the City Ground.
Nuno, the man who turned the club around, has been shown the door, and his replacement is being jeered after just six games in charge.
How can a club who were on such an upward trajectory be capitulating at such a rate, and what is the cause of all of this turbulence? We think we may have the answer.
It is a basic rule of thumb that an owner should never be the most talked about person at a club, and if they are, something is wrong.
Evangelos Marinakis, or Mr Marinakis to you, is certainly not shy of the spotlight.
Since their return to the Premier League Marinakis has made several headlines: banning Gary Neville from the City Ground, accusing a referee of being a Luton Town fan, storming on to the pitch to lambast Nuno after a draw at home to Leicester, featuring in a bizarre video after Gibbs-White’s decision to stay at the club (it was not too dissimilar to a hostage tape), sacking Nuno and hiring Postecoglou – a decision that went down like a lead balloon with fans – and we could go on.
His passion cannot be questioned; however, his decisions can, and are being scrutinised.
Marinakis might genuinely walk on the pitch and sack him in the centre circle😂😂😂 https://t.co/tXaKp2xB8I

After the Leicester game last season, Nuno admitted that tension existed between him and Marinakis. Even with a slow start this season, few expected Marinakis to axe him so early.
Most fans believed Nuno had earned the right to more time. Marinakis ignored that, pulled rank, and pulled the plug. The decision alienated fans, and the replacement soured the mood even further.
Marinakis believed he had pulled off a coup by landing a manager with Premier League and Champions League experience. The supporters saw it differently. They saw a coach who barely scraped 17th with a more talented squad than Forest’s.
Four defeats in Ange’s opening six games proved the doubters right. Boos poured down after the limp loss to Midtjylland. Some supporters belted out “you’re getting sacked in the morning.”
This problem doesn’t sit solely with the manager. Fans didn’t reject Ange for nothing – they rejected him because they never wanted him, and they never understood why Marinakis binned their most successful coach in years just a month into the season.
Once again, Marinakis made himself the story. His gamble already looks reckless.
Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis will not hesitate in removing head coach Ange Postecoglou if performances and results don’t improve quickly, Sky Sports News has been told 🚨

However, Postecoglou currently retains the immediate support of the club’s hierarchy. pic.twitter.com/KrF46a9X0f
And it’s not just the manager’s chair. The appointment of Edu Gaspar as sporting director was supposed to add stability and structure, yet fans see him as another contributor to the chaos. His summer signings were not made with Nuno in mind, and were rumoured to part of the plan to get him ousted.
If true, that paints an even clearer picture: the coach was being undermined long before he was dismissed, making his job near impossible, and any success he brought being quicly forgotten.
Forest, under Marinakis, are now looking like a club where the football people don’t get to run the football decisions. That is never sustainable.
I don’t think there’s anyone im more angry at than the other. Ange, Marinakis, Edu and Nuno- none are blameless. #nffc

Reports coming out of the club today say that Marinakis will not hesitate to remove Postecoglou from his post should performacnes and results not improve.
Ange Postecoglou’s future at #nffc already in serious doubt after just 24 days in charge. While Postecoglou can point to circumstances such as limited training sessions (Forest also haven't managed a clean sheet since April 1) the pressure is building https://t.co/sxPMXfvQj4

So where do Forest go from here? The next fixture pits them against Newcastle on Sunday afternoon at St James Park. This clash now seems crucial for the future of the head coach, with an international break to follow, defeat may be his final act as boss.
Marinakis doesn't seem the type to admit when he is wrong, but two sackings in just two months will not be a great representation of his leadership.
Forest are in real danger of becoming a case study in how not to run a football club. After years of progress and momentum, Marinakis’ interference threatens to undo it all.
Owners can buy players, sack managers, and plaster their names over headlines. What they cannot do is buy trust. Right now, the City Ground is running out of it fast.
