Have Chelsea Just Handed Arsenal The 2025/26 Premier League Title?

Waiting For Another Bottle

Manchester City fans will have their heads in their hands as they just drew 1-1 to Chelsea after a dramatic last-minute equaliser by Argentinian Enzo Fernández.

It has been a turbulent few days at Chelsea Football Club with the shock sacking of Enzo Maresca however, they responded incredibly with a good performance halting Manchester City to only a point. Credit is due to interim manager Callum McFarlane, who has taken over the reins while Chelsea look for a new manager.

Whilst it might look good on paper, Chelsea may have given London rivals Arsenal the key to the Premier League title. That's if they don't bottle it again of course.

How It Stands

Before this evening's clash, Arsenal sat six points clear at the top of the table and a draw for City only puts them a point closer meaning a gap has formed at the top of the table.

City have been looking like Arsenal's biggest threat and with Liverpool's drop-off, the only side with real experience winning Premier League's in recent years. Obviously, Arsenal don't even have that experience but they are looking more and more likely to be eventual Premier League champions if they don't bottle it.

We have seen it happen before though with Arsenal. Flashback to 2023, when The Gunners were 8 points clear by April. It only took them a run of poor results to let City steamroll through and take the title for themselves.

However, this year something feels a bit different. City have been far less dominant in the last couple years and the squad which has a number of new signings must be feeling the pressure. City also have an immensely busy schedule and their squad is getting thinner and thinner by the minute.

They host Brighton and Hove Albion next in the league on Wednesday before another set of FA Cup games commencing next weekend.

In Arsenal's Hands

Tonight not have been a league defining game, but it certainly would give Arsenal that confidence they need to extend the gap at the top of the table.

The only issue for them is that it is only halfway through the season and they have a tough run of games ahead of them including Liverpool on Thursday who are more equipped than anyone to beat them.

What Arsenal need more than anything is consistency and obviously a little bit of luck. They have to rely on other teams below them to drop points but with the drop of quality in these top teams, this year might be their best chance.

Arsenal have also spent a fortune on new signings and have the strongest squad in the league if not, the world. Currently, Eberechi Eze can't even get a look in despite being one of the best players in the league last season and Viktor Gyökeres is yet to hit the potential he is capable of.

With Gabriel back in the squad also, it's almost guaranteed that The Gunners will score a goal from a set piece. On his return, the Brazilian has scored two in two and is unstoppable in set piece situations.

Even when he was out of the squad, Arsenal didn't look out of place either and have good quality players that can cover in all positions. This is something that wasn't there in seasons past and another reason why Arsenal should hold their spot until the end of the season.
