Arsenal secured yet another massive win over a London rival this weekend in the form of Chelsea. The Gunners took home the three points and bragging rights against Tottenham Hotspur two weekends ago, which has allowed Mikel Arteta’s men to stay five points clear of title rivals Manchester City.
Football Park takes a look at Arsenal’s remaining nine fixtures to see if The Gunners have what it takes to become Premier League champions for the first time in 22 years.
Arsenal's 2003/04 Invincible season is something the football world never sees ever again 🏆🧱

🤩 A team featuring the likes of Theirry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Ashley Cole, it really was a who's who of footballing icons
A lot is said about the amount of draws they racked up… pic.twitter.com/uokkF5pWZS
The Gunners travel to the south coast on Wednesday, 4th March for a 19:30 kick-off against Brighton. The Seagulls have been very inconsistent throughout the course of the season so it would be hard to imagine anything other than an Arsenal win.
However, the London-based club has already shown chinks in their armour, as they drew with Wolves on Wednesday, 18th February. You’d imagine that will be sitting in the minds of the Arsenal players when they travel to the Amex Stadium, as a repeat of that result would spell disaster for Mikel Arteta’s men.
After playing FA Cup and Champions League games following their visit to Brighton, the Gunners host Everton at the Emirates Stadium. The match takes place on Saturday, 14th March, with a 17:30 kick-off time.
Arsenal will hope to do the league double over Everton as they beat the Toffees 1-0 in the reverse fixture. However, David Moyes has done an incredible job so far this season, as the club are in the mix for a European place, sitting in 8th position.
It certainly won’t be an easy game for the London-based side; however, I reckon they’ll get over the line once again.
Another two-game break of Premier League action sees the Gunners participate in the Champions League and the EFL Cup final before returning to league action. This time they host Bournemouth in a tie that includes another European chasing team.
The Cherries are currently unbeaten in their last eight matches and are one of the most in-form teams in the league. Despite this, the south coast side has a lot of players on their injury list, making anything but an Arsenal win hard to see.
The big one. Arsenal travel to the Etihad Stadium in what is now the most important game of the season. Whoever wins this encounter is in pole position to win the league so I can see a very passive game of football where both sides will try and play for a draw.
However, I do think Manchester City will come out victorious in this match. A mixture of experience and home advantage will get The Citizens over the line in my opinion, which will see Arsenal fall to second place in the table if City win all of their fixtures before this game.
As is the same with the Manchester City matchup, the date for this fixture hasn’t been confirmed, but this doesn’t change the magnitude of this encounter. I feel like the result from the weekend before will massively dictate the outcome of this game, as despite Newcastle’s poor league campaign so far, they can easily beat Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on their day.
On the other hand, if Arsenal come away from the Etihad Stadium with all three points and with confidence levels high, I can only see The Gunners winning this one.
Fulham is another team that has had a decent season and is therefore in the race for European football like many of the clubs already mentioned. It shows that Arsenal don’t have the easiest run-in, from how things look at the moment. However, we all know how quickly things can change in football.
Harry Wilson will also be a problem that Mikel Arteta’s men will need to deal with sufficiently. However, if the Cottagers have slipped back down the table by this point and have nothing to play for, an Arsenal win seems inevitable.
Back-to-back London derbies coupled with West Ham’s relegation battle means this game has the potential to be a banana skin that The Gunners could slip on. I can still see The Hammers being in a relegation scrap with three games remaining of the season, which is why if I were an Arsenal fan, I’d be very nervous for this match.
Despite it being on paper an Arsenal win, I just feel like West Ham will get a result out of the game due to the desperation to get a result to stay in the Premier League and the home advantage of the encounter being played at the London Stadium.
Barring a miracle, Burnley will have already been relegated by the penultimate game of the season, which makes this fixture a straightforward Arsenal win in my opinion. The Clarets won’t have anything to play for come this stage of the campaign, meaning the Gunners can swoop in and claim all three points.
The final match of the season. Arsenal travel to Selhurst Park in a game which could decide if they become Premier League champions or not. The Gunners have gone well when they have travelled to Crystal Palace in recent seasons, winning last year’s encounter 5-1.
I can see Arsenal winning this game, especially with how poor the Eagles have been this season. With Palace almost certainly finding themselves having nothing to play for come the final game of the campaign, it will make it just that bit easier for the Gunners to get the victory.
No. Despite the current points advantage over title rival Manchester City, I think that the Gunners have too many mistakes in them which will ultimately cost them the Premier League.
Couple this with the Citizens' imperious form we’ve seen repeatedly at the end of the season and their experience of winning Premier League titles, and I can just see them winning yet another league campaign under Pep Guardiola.
