19/04/24 12:06

As we move towards the end of the season, transfer gossip is beginning to fly about at an ever-increasing rate ahead of the summer transfer window.

Here’s our top five transfers to look out for in the Premier League this summer.

Lucas Paqueta to Manchester City

According to The Guardian’s Jacob Steinberg, Manchester City are set to renew their interest in Brazil midfielder Lucas Paqueta this summer but a move will depend on the outcome of his ongoing betting investigation.

The 26 year-old has an £85m release clause written into his West Ham contract which comes into effect on July 1st.

Paqueta has been directly involved in 15 goals in all competitions this season (eight goals, seven assists) and played a key role in helping the Hammers win the Europa Conference League last season - West Ham’s first major European trophy since 1965.

With speculation continuing to heat up over a possible exit for Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva this summer, Paqueta could join Pep Guardiola’s side as a direct replacement for the Portuguese creator.

Martin Zubimendi to Arsenal

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano recently told CaughtOffside that Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is a big fan of Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi and believes he could be a perfect addition to any club around the world.

The 25 year-old has long been linked with a move to the Gunners and reportedly has a €60m (£51.4m) release clause inserted into his contract.

Zubimendi, who has been capped five times by Spain, is a graduate of Sociedad’s academy and has spent his entire professional career so far at the Basque club.

The Spanish maestro would certainly strengthen Arsenal’s options next season and could form a dynamic midfield trio with Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard.

Conor Gallagher to Tottenham Hotspur

According to Tom Barclay of The Sun, Tottenham Hotspur are keen to get their transfer business done early this summer and want to get a deal done for England midfielder Conor Gallagher.

Chelsea’s ongoing issues with profit and sustainability rules could reportedly pave the way for Spurs to strike a deal for the 24 year-old who has been on Tottenham’s radar since last summer.

Gallagher has been a key part of Mauricio Pochettino’s side this season having started all but one of Chelsea’s 30 Premier League matches.

The energetic midfielder has five goals and eight assists to his name in all competitions this season and would provide Ange Postecoglou with a different profile of midfielder to what he currently has at his disposal.

Ivan Toney to West Ham

West Ham have made an inquiry for Brentford striker Ivan Toney according to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg. Given that Toney has just a year left on his Brentford contract, it is reported that the 28 year-old could be available for around £30-40m this summer.

The England international has managed four goals and one assist in 13 Premier League appearances this season after returning from his eight month ban in January.

Brentford appear to have already planned for life without Toney after they announced the £30m capture of Club Brugge striker Igor Thiago in January ahead of his summer arrival.

Toney would likely represent a long-term replacement for aging West Ham forward Michail Antonio who has just a year left on his Hammers contract.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to Brighton

Back in the January transfer window, David Ornstein of The Athletic reported that Brighton were in negotiations with Leicester City to sign Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

Although the Seagulls were unable to complete a deal for the 25 year-old in January, it seems highly feasible that the south-coast club could come back in for the Englishman this summer.

Leicester may be forced to cash in on Dewsbury-Hall in order to ease pressures facing them regarding profit and sustainability rules, especially if the Foxes fail to secure promotion to the Premier League this season.

The midfielder has played a vital role in Leicester’s promotion push this campaign, contributing 12 goals and 13 assists from midfield.
