2025/26 Enterprise National League MW8 Recap: Saturday's Matches in Review

Match week Eight of the Enterprise National League action has taken course.

It was a Saturday of little shocks, as we saw six of the top seven win and only one team who started the day in the relegation zone move out of it.

The referees were also busy in action, with several red cards being shown across the 12 games.

Here's reports from all of the day's action.

Scunthorpe vs Wealdstone Abandoned

Scunthorpe manager Andy Butler accused Wealdstone of refusing to play on, despite the officials asking for the match to continue, after Daniel Nkrumah was hospitalised through a shoulder injury.

The injury occurred in the 85th minute with Scunthorpe leading 2-1, after Alfie Beestin and Danny Whitehall overturned Enzio Boldewijn's early Stones goal.

It is the second match in four days that Scunthorpe have been involved in that has been abandoned, after their fixture against Eastleigh was suspended due to a nasty clash of heads involving one player from both sides.

Altrincham Clinch Early Kick-Off

Sutton United remain rooted in the relegation zone after losing 2-1 away at play-off hopefuls Altrincham.

James Gale came close to opening the scoring for Altrincham early on, but Jack Sims was forced to make a good save to keep the sides level.

Ashley Nadesan got on the end of Jayden Harris' cross in the 22nd minute to rip up the form book and stab home for Sutton - looking for just their second victory of the season.

Gale had another chance to score for the hosts just before the interval, yet Sims denied him once more.

However, they were level soon after the restart, through summer signing Jimmy Knowles' header - his third goal this season.

With 10 minutes left, it was third time lucky for 23-year-old Gale, as he tapped the rebound in from close range following Tom Crawford's saved header.

Boreham Outclass Morecambe

Boreham Wood made it four wins from five games as they proved too good for bottom club Morecambe.

The Managata Pay UK Stadium didn't have to wait long for a goal, as Lewis Richardson scored in the 7th minute to bag his first for Boreham Wood since signing this summer.

Matt Rush's curling effort from the edge of the box in the 36th minute was too good for Archie Mair to deal with, as the hosts further established their lead.

The Shrimps' misery was compounded on the stroke of half time, when Terrell Agyemang was shown red for a second bookable offence, before Rush grabbed his brace halfway through the second half by turning in Cameron Coxe's cross.

Boreham Wood now sit fifth, having played one games less than the two clubs directly above them.

Solihull Win At Last

Solihull Moors grabbed their first win of the season as a Jacob Wakeling double helped them beat Boston United 2-1.

His first came after a quarter of an hour, as he blasted a shot from inside the box that cannonned in past 'keeper Rhys Lovett via the underside of the crossbar.

Oscar Rutherford came close to doubling Solihull's lead, yet a great save from Lovett kept Boston at relative close quarters.

The hosts then got themselves back on level terms two minutes before the break, as Jordy Hiwula-Mayifuila polished off excellent build-up play.

Solihull weren't to be denied three points once more though, due to Wakeling capping off a driving run with a finish to fire his new side - who he only joined earlier this week - to a first win and up to 21st.

Longest English Football Trip Proves Fruitless

Truro City, from down in Cornwall, made the 880 mile round-trip up North to take on Carlisle United.

However, their trip didn't go to plan, starting as early as the 10th minute courtesy of Luke Armstrong's close-range finish.

The 29-year-old striker doubled up just two minutes later, coming from Truro's inability to clear their lines.

Truro were toothless and Tyler Harvey and co hardly gave Gabriel Breeze very little to do all afternoon.

On the hour mark, Regan Linney scored a sublime goal to seal a victory that means Carlisle are just three points off the top of the National League.

Forest Green Rovers Win

Forest Green Rovers secured a narrow victory against high-flying Hartlepool which sees them remain in first position without a loss.

Hartlepool 'keeper Harvey Cartwright was busy early on, having to deny Nick Haughton twice.

Rovers weren't to be stopped for much longer, as Kairo Mitchell's effort in the 23rd minute was too much for Cartwright to handle.

The league leaders continued to prove their worth, with Abraham Kanu hitting the bar with a header before Mitchell came close to a brace.

For Forest Green's dominance throughout the match, Hartlepool ran close to stealing a point late on with Danny Johnson steaming clean through of the defence, but Luke McNicholas managed to preserve the clean sheet and three points.

Rochdale Beat Braintree

Rochdale proved too much for the team at the opposite end of the table to compete with, as they beat Braintree 2-0.

Emmannuel Dieseruvwe opened the scoring in the 26th minute, meeting Tarryn Allarakhia's cross to head home.

Six minutes later, it was Dieseruvwe had the ball in net once more as he intercepted Braintree 'keeper Mason Terry's attempted clearance in a bizzare goal.

Dieseruvwe, who now has four goals in three games, almost clinched a hat-trick but was this time denied by Terry.

Braintree's best chance for a consolation came late, yet it was saved by Oliver Whatmuff after John Akinde had struck it well.

Rochdale's sixth win of the season sees them at second, whilst Braintree are only a point above the relegation zone.

Southend Injury Time Fun

Southend scored twice in injury time to see off Halifax Town in a 3-0 victory.

Andy Dallas headed home Gus Scott-Morriss's delivery to give the hosts the lead after 31 minutes.

With 21 minutes remaining, Adam Alimi-Adetoro was given his marching orders after picking him a second yellow card.

With Southend wasting numerous chances to seal the points, it left Halifax with a huge chance to salvage something at Roots Hall in the 14 minutes added on at the end of the 90.

However, Scott-Morriss' header in the first minute of the time added quickly saw Halifax's hopes of an equaliser evaporate, before Ben Goodliffe made it three headed goals for The Shrimpers in the 90+14th minute.

Having bounced back from Wednesday's defeat, Southend sit in fourth whilst Halifax are down in 17th.

Tamworth Beat Eastleigh

Tamworth overcame Eastleigh 1-0 in a battle of inconsistent mid-table clubs, which saw both sides reduced to 10 men.

Temitope Eweka was sent off for The Spitfires with an hour still to play, for bringing down Manny Duku in the penalty area - However, Nick Townsend saved the resulting spot kick.

Yet, Duku made amends for not converting from 12 yards by heading in a corner four minutes into the second half.

Tamworth defender Kwaku Donkor was then dismissed with 13 minutes to play through two yellows, however the hosts held on to victory despite an extra 10 minutes of injury time.

Tamworth now move above Eastleigh with 10 points, whilst The Spitfires sit in 15th on 9 points.

Woking Thrash Gateshead

Woking made it four games unbeaten by tearing Gateshead apart at home by five goals to nil.

Aiden O'Brien and Tariq Hinds both scored inside 24 minutes as the Cards raced out of the blocks.

Tiernan Brooks in the Gateshead goal then denied Jamie Andrews from adding a third just past the half hour mark, however the Woking man wasn't to be denied in the 61st minute as he curled into the corner of the net.

Joshua Osude was substituted on in the 72nd minute, and by the 73rd he had scored Woking's fourth goal for his first for the club, before later adding his second for five with one minute to go.

The Cards now move out of the drop zone and into 16th, still below Gateshead in 11th.

York City Win

York City retained their unbeaten start to the season by beating Yeovil Town 3-1 away from home.

Ollie Pearce converted a spot kick in the 25th minute which was followed up just nine minutes later as Tyrese Sinclair teed up Ollie Banks to convert.

Yeovil then got back into proceedings as Luke McCormick punished a mistake by goalkeeper Harrison Male, giving them 13 minutes to rescue themselves.

However, it was York who instead confirmed the win, as Jake Wannell turned into his own net in the 83rd minute.

Having just replaced Adam Hinshelwood as manager, Stuart Maynard will be delighted to claim his first win as York boss at the first attempt.

Aldershot Draw to Brackley in Topsy-Turvey Affair

Aldershot held Brackley to a 2-2 draw at home in a game where the team in the lead switched hands multiple times.

Josh Barrett's strike opened the scoring for Aldershot four minutes from half time, meeting Dejan Tetek's cut-back to convert past Jonny Maxted.

The game took a turn in the 65th minute when Ben Jackson fouled Gaz Dean to concede a penalty and earn a second yellow card, which resulted in Shane Byrne converting the spot kick to level the scoreboard.

Matt Lowe then gave the visitors a huge chance of winning with his goal in the 82nd minute, only for Archy Taylor to respond two minutes later.

Altrincham and Brackley Town also can't be separated on points on the table with nine apiece, although Brackley are now winless in four.
